Help me surprise my mates.

Hi Everyone.

I mentioned this in the "What are you going to do first" Thread. I moved over to the states almost a year ago. I havent been home since but i will be coming back for Glastonbury. None of my mates know that i am going so I want to surprise them. Have any of you got any good ideas about how I should do it? I will be getting to Glastonbury on Tuesday night so will hopefully get in well before them.

take them by surprise in a fancy dress outfit so they cant see its you... start gyrating and being weird around them, then just as theyre telling you 'to go do one', whip off your mask and see the sheer amazement in theyre faces.

I'm assuming you have one person "on the inside" that knows you are coming and can tell you where to meet them, or do they just camp in the same place each year?

My best friend and her boyfriend, who is my boyfriends best friend, did this in 2009. We thought they hadn't managed to get a ticket but they got one in the resale and kept it quiet.

We were stuck in traffic still a couple of miles from the site after 11 hours on a bus when I got a phone call from my friend who was drunk saying "guessss where i aaam!" and I was not in the best mood as it was nearly midnight and we were hoping to be there by early afternoon so I was in a grump.

So I said "I dunno, where are you" not very enthusiastically, I thought she was just drunk in a club at home. But then she said "Glastonbury!!!"

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" I screamed so loudly the whole bus probably wanted to kill me as they were all still in a bad mood but I was so happy!!

My bad mood immediately disappeared and the last couple of slow miles flew by! It was the best feeling ever! So happy!! We knew it wouldn't be the same without them so it was amazing when they actually did turn up. Your friends will love it, it will make their Glastonbury!

You need to find out where they're gonna camp, set up before they come, hide, then when they're all set up, bring out a few beers all casual like.

No need to go overboard, if they honestly have no idea you're gonna be there that's surprise enough.

My girlfriend has a similar surprise, but sort of in reverse.

Did something like this myself in Amsterdam. What you going to do about finding the buggers? Even if you know what field they will be in, surely it will be difficult to locate their exact spot.

One way to find them, could you phone them up and say that you've just seen them on live internet feed from the festival, is it them by the ---? When they say No, get them to tell you where they are, they won't suspect a thing until you appear a few minutes later.

The thing here, I think is to do , whatever it is you decide on real casually, for example just walk up to their tent and ask if the have any rizlas or something

If you can wait until the evening, you have found their camp and they are sleeping do the 'oh sorry wrong tent' trick...but try not to get beaten up by your mates sleeping. Ok, maybe not such a good idea.
