Anyone have any idea of what paul Simon might play?

I have heard that this tour is alot of new stuff..........

Rather have some oldies/Graceleand type songs

I was quite happy with that setlist until I realised America was missing. God, that would be amazing.

Not to mention the other S&G stuff.

However, I'm glad the likes of Mother and Child Reunion and Kodachrome are there.

doesn't seem right

imagine Pauly missing his Beatles songs

I get the feeling he's trying to remind people how 'good' his less well known material is..

where's The Boxer, Homeward Bound, Mrs Robinson (I can't believe he might not play that...), America, I Am A Rock, etc etc?

Yeah, he really needs to beef up that set. Hes a bit of an arse though so he might not bother.

Art is one of the greatest singers of all time. Absolute perfect pitch.

:O

Around 3.39. Mucho from Art.

It much like Roger Waters doing PF tunes without Dave Gilmour for me.

I'd say we'll get two or three S&G tunes, maybe three or four new songs and about ten songs from his own discography.

He'll want to promote the new record, but obviously he's only got an hour (I assume...) so he'll probably be encouraged to reel off the hits, too. The new album is good, though, so it's not all bad!

I'd imagine he would sing "Bridge over troubled water", it is still his biggest hit to date.

I am glad that his recent set-list included "Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes", my personal favourite, although I've not heard all his material.

the worst ever xfactor moment for me was when that tart who won released and turned leonard cohen's hallelujah into a massive warbling shambling mess of a song.

And this will make your blood boil, check out this quote I just found:

"Burke herself was not enamoured of the choice of song, remarking "It just didn’t do anything for me.""

it's not about Art having the better voice. Technical ability is f**k all to do with anything. With Simon & Garfunkel it's all about how their voices worked *together*

That said, if he plays 'The Only Living Boy in New York', I might get a little something in my eye.

Here's a fairly reliable rundown of what he's been playing this year:

http://www.setlist.fm/stats/paul-simon-5bd6e3a8.html?year=2011

So we can be pretty sure about Sound of Silence, Only Living Boy and indeed Here Comes The Sun but America looks doubtful.

On the other hand it is a festival, surely at least half the set will be oldies?

    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
