Friday Acts - any recommendations?

Guest Melidere

Recommended Posts

First off, thanks to all the people who posted in some other topics recommending acts that are performing on the saturday. When I first looked at the lineup nothing really appealed - but now I have a few bands I definitely want to see and more to give a listen to. The vast amount of acts playing make it pretty difficult to give them all a proper listen - the spotify playlist is great but I've barely scratched the surface. So all your recommendations have been like a guiding light leading me to wonders I probably would never have got round to listening to otherwise.

So can anyone suggest some good acts for the Friday? I'd love to get the ball rolling, but there's nothing really there I know and like well enough. Well maybe Warpaint.

Thanks!

These are the acts I've highlighted on the Clasfinder so far, obviously won't manage them all because of clashes but they're the ones that have jumped out at me so far

Friday 24th

The Vaccines (Other, 14:25-15:20)

B.B. King (Pyramid, 16:25-17:35)

Jim Jones Revue (Oxylers in West, 17:35-18:15)

Big Audio Dynamite (The Park, 18:00-19:05)

Jimmy Cliff (West Holts, 19:15-20:15)

Morrissey (Pyramid, 20:05-21:30)

Primal Scream (Other, 22:25-23:45)

Melanie (Spirit of 71, 22:45-00:30)

Asian Dub Foundation (Glade, 22:45-00:30)

Fatboy Slim (East Dance, 23:10-00:30)

A first glance I picked out: -

Two Door Cinema Club

The Naked & Famous

Darwin Deez

Big Audio Dynamite

Biffy Clyro

Jimmy Cliff

Morrissey

Cee-Lo Green.

Some clashes but enough for a day out I reckon. I'd recommend anyone with Spotify to give Cee-Lo's album a good listen. I'm not a huge fan of what get's labeled RnB these days (which i think this kind of qualifies as) but this is really soulful and original. Plus he's bound to chuck in a couple of Gnarls Barkley tunes surely?

Wu Tang Clan/Gonjasufi/Cage The Elephant all probably clash around 3 but i'd recommend them all. Gonjasufi/Wu Tang if you're looking for a chill :D

Like you said, Warpaint.

Fleet Foxes who probs clash with special guests on Park Stage, which is always gonna be interesting too.

DJ Shadow headlining John Peel should be awesome, as would Fatboy Slim on Dance if you're not interested in U2.

Jimmy Cliff

BB King

Big Audio Dynamite

Or you could just enjoy meandering around!

    • 1. Baby Dave - Billy 2. A - Prang   Not really got round to listening to many more in May so not really fair to vote but shoutout to EPs from Bleech 9:3 - Bleech 9:3 & Villanelle - Measly Means
    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
