Hey that's the new one I'm getting too - my phone hasn't worked properly since it got soaked at Glasto 2012 so I'm going for thewaterproof option.

I'm looking at getting the Z1 too .... I'd have probably have ordered it already, if Orange's upgrade procedure on their website wasn't completely shit.

There was a good deal the other day on the Note 3 so I grabbed it whilst it was cheap.

I have to say it's probably the best phone I have ever owned, although I do like a big screen!!

Also, no need for a tablet as this does 2 jobs in 1.

I keep getting that at work, it is a beast though. As said above I don't use my phone to phone anyone its essentially a portable computer and mp3 player.

The note 3 is an impressive piece of kit, is it the one that can film in 4K? Its just far too huge to carry around imho.

It can indeed apparently film in 4K (ofc the general lack of 4K tv's/monitors people have makes that pointless for the time being )

Yup, many people I know are going for one at the moment, seems to be the popular phone (in the manner that the S2 and S3 were).

A friend has an S4, stupidly powerful, lovely screen, really impressive device. I'm due an upgrade soon and will probably be looking at the experia myself.

I've had my Sony Z1 arrive today, with a completely fucking useless plug on the end of the USB charger.

It looks like a UK plug at first glance, but it's like a squashed version of one with the earth pin nearer the live/neutral pins.

The phone is a lot bigger than I imaged it'd be too. I'm not sure I'd have got it if I'd realised.

the phone appears to have no usb socket for charging, but instead a "magnetic charging dock" ... but a USB charger.

Or if i'm being extremely dumb, perhaps someone here is able to tell me where to find the usb socket on the phone, or an alternative way to charge it?

it does.

And now I've found it, the usb socket is hidden behind a small cover that's designed to break off within days - to try and force people to buy the magnetic charger to keep their phone looking nice, I presume.

Should have got a Samsung (Though I think my USB plug does that weird flip out thing to, can't remember. I don't get the point as surely the other two pins don't fit other plugs anyway?)

trouble is one Samsung's too small to be a decent phablet replacement the other is too big!

I've always been terrible with phone systems, fax machines and mobile phones. I'm alright with 'puters, mostly.

And just to demonstrate again that I'm a phone numpty...

I've got a microCD card in my old phone (an "Orange Barcelona") that I've just backed-up the contacts to. If i put that same card in the new phone, will that phone auto-format the card and me lose them?

There's contact backup apps you can download, that upload them to a server, then you can download it again with a new phone, and login to get them back.
