The only reason REM are there is because thet were apparently considering an offer to headline the second stage at V and I also read somewhere that they were looking for non-headline festival slots (no idea why). I love them and would be overjoyed to see them headline.

I'd expect Korn to be 4th (maybe even 5th) on the bill.

Absolutely no idea, I've been reading so much about potential festival line-ups that it all melds into one. I think it was on a forum so could easily be utter nonsense, just seems an odd thing to make up.

EDIT: It was on the IOW forums here, and turns out it was nonsense. Plus it also turns out they aren't doing festivals (via Neil).

They played stadia, but didn't sell out Twickenham - and had Cardiff downgraded from the Millenium Stadium (roughly 60,000 capacity) to the Cardiff International Arena (roughly 7,500). I would have thought they'd make a great headliner for Reading, though their commercial appeal has dropped a bit in recent years.

R.E.M. aren't doing any UK festivals this year. They turned down the offers they had.

I pray 30STM aren't subbing... I've seen them live a few times, both at their own gigs and at festivals and all I can say is that they are TERRIBLE live! and getting worse every time I see them! Jared Leto over uses crowd interaction far too much to hide his crappy singing and guitar playing.

Personally I'd love to see Lostprophets sub... they were great headlining the NME in 2009, amazing in Cardiff Arena last year and OK at Leeds Fest last year, but I think a higher position on the lineup would allow them to put on a hell of a show, especially with it being 10 years since FSOP was released. And I imagine a lot of MCR fans like Lostprophets....

Howvwer there may be a big suprise... just no idea who it would be... No Doubt?

I think all of these are very unlikely but I probably could figure out a arguement why they could play.

Jay Z, Spinal Tap, Rammstein, System, Velvet Revolver, Tenacious D, Smashing Pumpkins (not as unlikely as it would 1st seem), Biffy anything that is more exciting than 30STM.

I think it's because most people seem quite apathetic about the festival this year. They hear the rumours of the headliners and think, "well, maybe the undercard will be good" and then think to themselves that it probably won't be, so don't feel inclined to make any serious suggestions - because it's more likely to be somebody absolutely shite. The only good sub we had last year was QOTSA, for instance, although that's entirely subjective. It's likely to be more of the same this year.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
