Changes to the rumours

The rumours page has just been updated and things look like they're starting to take shape! Was wondering if anyone had any info they could share regarding the stones being moved to saturday, the strokes moved to the other stage and foo fighters moving to sunday.

interesting addition of underworld to other stage too, they big enough to headline sunday night? i was hopin for daft punk or the chems in that slot

The Other Stage is a guess on our part, but we've had some info which strongly suggests they'll be back this year, 27 years after their first Glastonbury visit.

I can't recall R&L having any festival exclusives that have affected Glasto appearances

Oh, they defo have done on occasions - R/L tries very hard to have their headliners on an exclusive basis, but sometimes for a number of reasons it's not possible, and on other occasions it's impacted on bands wanting to also play Glastonbury.

So let's say R/L get The Strokes as an exclusive, and we have U2, Rolling Stones and Foo Fighters on the pyramid, could that potentially set up a complete set of dance other stage headliners (Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Underworld) to clash with the 'rock' based pyramid headliners? Or at least 2 out of the 3 :)

But Reading wouldn't let strokes play the other stage of Glstonbury and then headline their main stage. Maybe main stages, but it would make Reading look 'lesser' of the two festivals.

i don't think that sort of thinking happens at the festival side of things - each festival is programming their stages to suit the demographic that festival attracts, and festivals are well aware that they attract a different demographic to some other fests.

That sort of thinking is far more likely to come from a band or their management (ego dependant of course), who want to see themselves as always popular.

True, but it would impact on money wouldn't it? Strokes would get more as a reading festival exclusive, rather than as a band playing both?

I can't really think of a band in the last 15 years who headlined a second stage and then headlined the main stage at reading. Can't see that changing this year!
