only bands id rather see on the farm would be zep or floyd and fat chance of those two. can just imagine by-tor and the snow dog on the bandstand. took my first ever trip watching rush on the permanent waves tour in 81. saw em again on moving pictures and again in 04. always an absolute pleasure. we can only dream!

i saw the Yes set. They were actually slotted for a full 2-hr slot in the mid afternoon (check your program if you don't believe me) but some shite act before them went way over, and instead of playing the full set, they only did about an hour

Just enjoyed 15 minutes working out when I saw them, Signals Tour, Wembley Arena, May 1983, ticket is on the wall in the downstairs loo :) I'd love a bit of Rush, it's been a long time!

Ivan - my first thought was that I went to NEC, we moved house around that time so I had to check the ticket stub. I I found a whole load of old stubs a few years ago, unfortunately I have been less OCD in the last few years, at least I was able to check that one. The setlist looks amazing, lost the link now but I am sure you can find it. Would be fun next June.

Cheers, NS

Ivan, That would be amazing. Apart from about 3 tracks that are on my MP3 player I can't remember the last time I listened to Rush, but reading the setlist I could remember pretty much the whole set!

Do you need physical address or e-mail address? I can PM whichever to you. Cheers, NS

That's inspired, the bit when he's on about the drum solo is hilarious (if you know Rush of course)

I was at the NEC when A Show of Hands was recorded, it would amazing to have them at Glasto, just can't see it somehow though, I think Download or Sonisphere would be more likely....

I personally think they may be nailed for High Voltage if it takes place again next year. They would have plenty of room for a headline set and have the perfect prog friendly audience - much more so than at Download or Sonisphere. I'd love to see them at Glastonbury but I really question how many of the audience would even have heard of them. A headline slot is never going to happen - it might have in the early years but not anymore. Think of the number of classic prog bands that are still going strong. Have any of them ever been booked since the mid 80's? Very few spring to mind - Curved Air, Space Ritual and a few others. High Voltage had STACKS of them on a deadicated stage - Asia, Marillion, Steve Hackett, Uriah Heep, Magnum, Argent, Focus, Wishbone Ash- and there was even more prog orientated music on the two larger stages (ELP and Opeth being the most obvious). It was seriously good but the only band at High Voltage that has ever played Glastonbury is Marillion (when Fish was still fronting them).

As with many here I'd love it to be true but can't see it somehow. West Holts would be the only place I could imagine them being put on.

Although Yes was one of my highlights of Glasto 03 it was very much a "golden oldies" show - Rush will have a new album to promote and so will probably major on that, so it would be very much for the continuing fans rather than those hoping for a 20-minute extended version of By-Tor.

    • Primavera refunding day tickets which are probably a negligible percentage of attendees yesterday.
    • Thursday day tickets being refunded. Fair play.
    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
