I wonder why they are playing Wireless, of all festivals.

Money, of course.

The "reform rule" is in play. They want the money.

But I also think they'll want Glastonbury too (and have info to back that up) - after all, it was rumours of them reforming for Glasto which cropped up about a year ago that have probably been the driving force behind actually reforming.

Has anyone been to Wireless? Will Pulp get bottled off the stage like the chavs on facebook are threatening?

It wasn't Wireless, but the crowd for Blur at Hyde Park was mostly pleasant, but there were a significant number of awful people there. Not the bottling or heckling the band kind of awful, but more of the violently shove people to get up front and start fights with people.

Hopefully the rest of the lineup on the Pulp day will keep out the riffraff.

It's an interesting one about whether they'd headline. That Glastonbury gig back in 95 was probably the start of them getting big, but they didn't get huge, there are plenty of bigger bands around, all the other possible headliners that have been mentioned (u2, prince, coldplay, foos, radiohead) are much bigger.....

It's also interesting to see people mentioning Pulp as headliners on the pyramid, and Suede as other stage. I'd say they were probably as popular as each other at their relative peaks.

Musically I'd say you were about right, but Jarvis has become a bit of a national treasure (all the more amusing cos he lives in France ) off the back of his Michael Jackson thing along with his general character.

Even if they aren't big enough to headline, what are people going to do? Cancel their tickets? Since the festival is already sold out, it doesn't really matter if they are "big enough to headline".

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
