seems to me that poppys are more of a fashion thing, people think they need to wear a poppy to show people they care about those who have fallen and to avoid the obvious guilt trip, and yet probably no little about the meaning of the appeal, or care

i don't see how you can feel anger towards a charity. if you don't want to support it, fair enough. there's thousands of charities that people don't support. but don't see the need for having a go at it.

personally i think there's more deserving charities but am still happy to support it.

The problem I have with it is that you are unable to escape it. There's a build up for about 2 weeks, then on the day you get cornered wherever you go. Its literally shoved down your throat.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they do some very good work with the money, I just can't stand the way that that money is extracted from the public.

Is it just me or are people on tv wearing poppies earlier and earlier every year? I have only just seen people selling them but in tv land they seem to have been wearing them for a couple of weeks.

    • Had a wonderful booking in one of our primary woodland venues this weekend. A 30th birthday arranged by a load of musicians and entertainment industry professionals. It was primarily a folk oriented event, however I noticed one young woman who didn’t seem to fit dress and appearance wise. Turned out to be Frenetic, one of the top up and coming UK Jungle and DnB DJ’s.    Anyway Saturday night turned into an EDM session and I got to do a set. Slightly nervous considering who was there, it was great and Frenetic loved my set. She’s closing Data Mine at Shambala this year.
    • they got lucky and the thunderstorms stayed away. It was still wet of course. Some of those boot sucking puddles did emerge from what a couple friends saw who were there.  Post fest aerial also below   and also a sapphic mud wrestling contest?
    • It's even less funny when in real life too...   Liddle met Rachel Royce and the couple soon became romantically involved.[84] In January 2004 the couple married at a ceremony in Malaysia. They had been living in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, and had two sons together. Six months later, Liddle moved in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator. It transpired that he had cut short his honeymoon with Royce so that he could be with Monckton. Following their divorce, Liddle and Royce exchanged attacks in the media. Liddle called her a "total slut and slattern"
    • Got our purple outfits sorted.   What's the uptake on the fancy dress day?   Does everyone get involved with that one as well?
