To be fair to me that chart seems to show a max of about 12mm of rain, not great but not really 05 or 07 proportions.

As others have said we need to wait and see what the ensembles show

Michael Fish gives his thoughts on next week's weather. Be aware that the latest GFS run could be an outlier (rogue run) the ECM (a more reliable model in the short range) still suggests a High pressure edging in for next weekend so all to play for

These charts and stuff are changing all the time. I'm alright if it rains earlier (Thur/Fri) but want it start brightening up Sat/Sun. Heavy rain forecast today and over the weekend. I'm not so fussed about the mud, but hope it rains like a bastard over the weekend and relieves itself to move over for the sun!

A friend of mine who is a working meteorologist told me this today

'indications are probably a few showers early doors then plenty of dry weather through the weekend, and increasingly warm. Quite early to say definitively though..'

For comparison,

I THINK 60mm fell over the weekend in 2007. Grim.

100mm fell on the friday morning in 2005. June average is about the same figure...

Please feel free to correct these numbers, I can't recall where I got them from, and can't reference!

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.

Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
