efestivals site crash

The whole time I was trying to get tickets this morning / having a minor nervous breakdown, I couldn't get onto efests at all. VERY sad! The only thing that gets me through such troubling times is the support of the forum. My sanity hangs in the balance...

Was anyone able to use the site normally?

NB this isn't a criticism, I understand it must have been overrun! But in previous years it's always been fine...

Welcome to T Day my friend. :D

Tbh, it was on quite a bit throughout the morning which I have to say from experience is a bloomin first!!!

The radio kept going pretty well throughout too.

Anyone know the capacity numbers of users for this year? Someone usually keeps note don't they?

Is it just me or has this day come around FAR too quickly since the last one?

Really? I've never had problems with efests in previous years (apart from chat, obviously). I missed it! Had to rely on the Glasto facebook page instead... Can't the servers kick out guests for the day and reward members for their loyalty ;-)? Perhaps they could operate a similar policy for festival goers too? Loyalty points priority booking :-)!

Glad I hand't subscribed for a site.. like this.. no one I knew could get on. We didn't needto get on, only want to help others with info.. all tickets secured prior to 9 am.. ..shame.. you didn't do Lo fi like I said...this isn't the first time! And judging by other people I'm not the only one let down!

Well, if c**ts like you didn't think freeloading was OK, then efests would have the money for bigger servers.

And you obviously don't know many people. There were thousands accessing efests without problems. :)

Lo-Fi would have made f**k all difference to anything. Come back and make a suggestion when you have the first idea what you're talking about.

What's the difference between Lo-Fi and the normal forum? Surely a lo-fi version would require less resources - could you explain?

Also the site did (seemingly) crash as I could access forums or main site.

You seem very hostile eFestivals.

the site didn't crash at all - the load was being carefully managed, so people often got the 'busy' message, but it was working (for some people at least) for all of this morning.

I couldn't get on at all until around 11 ish when my tickets were sorted and judging by the few posts that had been made in the Glastonbury forum not mNy people did

The site is usually full of new posts on ticket day

Exactly your site couldn't cope with demand amen...if never does... How can expect people to pay 18 pound a year, when they can't get on a day like this... useless......!

I don't "expect" anyone to pay £18 a year. People are welcome to take the option at £18 a year to use the forums ad-free if they want to. What they get for their £18 a year is the forums ad-free. They don't get any guarantee of better access.

All the same, a huge number of people (bigger than on occasion previously, by 30%) had no problems using here, as the numbers get to show.

People are normally getting their tickets far easier on ticket day. Because they weren't, they were concentrating on getting their tickets and not posting here.

People were perfectly able to post if they wished to - but because posting was, unsurprisingly, more difficult than it is normally (due to the 'busy' message) people chose not to.

This site was unusable yesterday, If having a lofi version doesn't make any difference why do See use a basic site for their ticket sales? with all those hits i'm sure a few adverts would help their running costs enormously ;)

because they might have bandwidth limitations?

because they consider that so few of their users will have any of their content already cached?

because they get so swamped that they can't guarantee that their servers will be able to serve anything but the basic page?

There's all sorts of possible reasons, including the fact that serving their sales pages have to do far less behind the scenes than the efests forums do irregardless of which skin is being used. The fact that there's such a big overhead in the background for forums makes the front end for that almost inconsequential.

If I didn't know what I was doing I wouldn't have succeeded in getting an extra 30% of people working on here yesterday compared to previous occasions, despite it all being on the same hardware as previously. I've spent a LOT of time in the last month making absolutely sure that I was making all of the necessary configuration changes and taking all factors into account with the proper weighting.

eh, i never said efestivals was useless. in fact, i never even mentioned efestivals. perhaps it's you that's saying it's useless ;)

you said that twitter and fb were the places to be. When you say that on the efests forums, by default it means that efests isn't.

I see that joined up thinking is a whole new thing to you. Nevermind, you might get it one day.
