Some of my best and some of my worst concerts have been Van The Man. On form he's magnificent. Saw him one night play for four and a half hours at a club in Newport - reckoned to be one of his best ever gigs in one biography.

Hope it's a good one for you.

Cheers. Its Womack, Tom Jones and Van. Outdoors. Could be a great gig.

Anyone see the documentary on Wish You Were Here at the weekend? Really good. Love a good Pink Floyd doc.

Forgot about this picture too. The day Syd showed up in the studio when they were mixing Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Interesting that Roger didn't talk about it in the documentary.

I've had some extremely well-sourced info that there's David Byrne tour dates being provisionally booked for the UK for November. :D

It's not definite as yet that they'll be going ahead then, but venues are currently being asked about their availability for shows.

As his tours normally last for many monthss, and several times in the last 15 years or so he's made more than one visit to Britain for shows, I reckon there's a very strong possibility that he'll do some festie dates next summer. :)

I've already been offered freebies for a particular venue that's being lined-up, so I guess I'm going to get to see him 3 times at least when the tour happens. :D

and to follow that up, I've just found an email from David which says what the tour is about - it's him and St Vincent.

“We’ll be doing these songs and a bunch of songs that we suspect people will know, with a group that includes eight brass players, a keyboardist and a drummer,” says Byrne of the tour.

in recent years there's always been a decent number of some of the best Talking Heads songs in the sets, and seeing how this tour's website says "and a bunch of songs that we suspect people will know" I'd guess this tour will be no different. :)

Same here, love the music, but just wish he would interact with the crowd just one little bit. Nothing. Never. Perhaps I have just been unlucky so far.

Could see him doing a legends slot in 2013 at Glasto by the way.

I have very vague recollections of Van that afternoon, I can't remmeber if I was wandering through or getting ready for Brian Wilson. Either way I remember Brian Wilson a lot, it was great, and the weather was fine, great party atmosphere, and loved the bloke crowd surfing on a surfboard. Great songs for a Sunday afternoon

saw The Bangles years ago, and they encored with an acapella version of Yes It Is, absolutely exquisite it was. I've been looking for a version of the song by them for years, and finally found one

not acapella, but pretty good.

and another reminder of John and/or Paul's amazing song-writing... those harmonies, and slightly odd chord changes. Yep, they changed it all

Wow, haven't hard that song in years. Lennon probably knocked it out in 5 minutes too. The bastard. Really really scary talents. Superhuman.

Total change of theme - try driving within the speed limit with this blaring on the stereo.

are you not familiar with the Cardiacs? You've missed out big time.

They're quite possibly the most original and inventive British band of the eighties. If you can find it I recommend you track down their tape that's (I think) called 'A little man and a house and the whole world window' 'The Seaside'.

I saw them absolutely loads of times - the first few times they looked and acted very much like they do in that video. It's the only time I've seen a band and had difficulty believing that the madness on stage was just an act and wasn't the result of insanity. :lol:

They were an absolutely superb band. It's sad that Tim (the singer) has been seriously ill for a few years following a stroke. :(

      sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.

      Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.

      I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…

      Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
