God damn, I saw these headline the other stage in '92. I had "sampled some of the local fungi", gone off on my own to see NAD and ended up about 3 rows from the front. About 10 seconds into the gig I realised what a terrible mistake this had all been. Due to all the thrashing about in the crowd, my shirt flew off (yes I was actually wearing a shirt), my shoes and socks vanished, and my shorts and pants were working their way down past my knees when I realised I had to get out of there fast. I managed - no idea how, divine intervention possibly - to find all my clothes and extricate myself to what I thought was a clear anomaly maybe 6-8 feet across, but still pretty close to the front. Got my clothes back on to realise that the reason this area was clear was because there was - I don't really know how else to describe this - a huge, bearded troll-like man, standing in the middle of this spot, windmilling his arms and huge fists around like an effing barbarian in a berserker trance, and roaring. Roaring.

Apart from that it was great. "Kill your Television" was of course a crowd moment. And I appear to have been dressed like a tit :)

LOL Jesus Tiddles, seems like you had a lucky escape.

Very jealous but should it happen I can assure you that having seen them the last couple of years said nutter is now happily living under Bella bridge and is no longer a threat.

I predict these artists will feature next year:

Chemical Brothers(Pyramid/Other)

Lady Gaga(Pyramid/Other)

Radiohead(Pyramid)

Florence and the Machine (Pyramid)

Snow Patrol (Pyramid)

Manic Street Preachers (John Peel Headliners)

Elbow (Pyramid)

Cast (Other/John Peel)

The Streets

Fatboy Slim

Band of Skulls (Other)

Mumford and Sons (Other)

Example (apparently quoted in The Sun as saying he will be "playing the Pyramid Stage")

White Lies (Other)

I confidently predict the following:

U2 won't play.

Elbow will.

Somebody mainstream pop who needs a career injection (Madonna maybe) will.

Radiohead will headline one night.

I STILL won't manage to check out the circus.

It will rain.

I'll get too pissed too quick one day and be in the tent by midnight.

That last one isn't a prediction, it's nailed on.

For the female headliner I cant see past Lady GaGa

She's just been announced as Lollapalooza headliner in the US

With a second album even half as successful as her debut she'll become the biggest contemporary female music artist in the world, if she isnt already.

Now, she's not my cup of tea, but a good 2nd album permitting I think it would be a great booking. It seems to me she encompasses a certain wacky spirit inherent in Glastonbury and seems like a genuine eccentric (a dying breed). She puts on a great show aswell and is a fantastic piano player in her own right. She also apparently made a loss on her first US and UK tours due to the amount of production (costumes, dancers, sets) involved in the live shows. This suggests to me a fair amount of artist integrity, hasnt pandered to the record companies too much and seems to be a genuine individualist

Madonnas past it and appears to have been ruled out by Eavis according to the interviewer at the end of this clip

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment_and_arts/10407386.stm

Kylie was as popular as she was ever going to be in 2005 and getting her, when she's done nothing musically acclaimed since, seems like a backward step. I got the vibe from Eavis that he thought her time had been and gone to headline

Beyonce, maybe, probably has enough appeal, but doesn't fit the 'played before' bill

Lady Gaga ftw!

In terms of the bands who have headlined before, it's a huge 'meh' from me. Radiohead, Coldplay, REM? Pah!

I hope most of all its not REM as they just seem to follow me wherever I go and I never enjoy them live that much

Radiohead would be alright, but its not a worry, there's plenty of other stuff to and see and do if the Pyramids not to my taste

I hope its the Cure, but there nowhere near big enough to headline Glasto anymore, not even on nostalgia

How about Roger Waters, he co-headlined before, and he's doing a world tour of 'The Wall' which happens to end in ~Germany on the 18th June, the week before Glasto

Now I know it would be impossible to do the type of show he was planning on his tour what with the actual wall getting built up and knocked down, flying baloons, theatrics etc...BUT is it possible he could play the show without the theatrics. or a Pink Floyd greatest hits set. Just a thought people.........

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
