Next year I would like to sell stuff that I have made, but do not want a pitch, just to wander around the campsites selling my souvenirs. Its not drugs or booze nothing illegal.

I need to make money to start up my pottery studio and I thought this would be an excellent opportunity. What worries me is that I have always had the impression that GF frowns upon free sellers. Is this true?

I have tried selling my things on ebay , but only to find out that my goods have been used as a football by the post office. B******DS. So my only other option is to bring them to the festival.

Is there anybody that can give me some advice about trading, I would really and truly appreciate it, .

thankyou

Be discreet, no big signs hanging from your neck etc.

Don't take all of your stock with you on every trip

main drags through camp fields prob safest from getting nicked

or through the middle of the big fields between acts

keep moving, stay in the same area, not the same spot

if possible make it look like your chatting to people rather than selling to them

if you don't take the piss and don't do it under the noses of authority you should be ok

I know its not quite the same but on the Wednesday during the football Emily Eavis was stood in front of me and 2 guys walked passed selling cans - at first she smiled bu this quickly turned into a frown and was soon on the phone and appeared to be looking for them in the crowd while talking to somebody on the phone - she looked a bit miffed by it.

There was a girl selling vodka jellies for £2 during the Pet Shop Boys. She came wandering around the crowd and noone seemed bothered. We bought some. And the following day my partner asked me what was in them. Sheltered life.

Thankyou so much for your replies.

My aim is not to make loads of money just enough to get me going,

I just want to see if my product would sell at glasto before I decide on being a trader for Glasto 2013.

If I was caught for fly pitching, what would happen?

If I was caught for fly pitching, what would happen?

I'm not sure if the same still happens now, but around 20 years ago fly-pitchers either had to part with money to what I believed to be 'authorised heavies' (tho thinking back, I guess it's possible they were just some geezers trying it on - but I don't think they were), or they had their stock confiscated.

The time it happened to me was still when it was possible to drive your car on site and camp next to it. We managed to park next to one of the main drags and set a stall up against that drag selling jewellery, and those 'heavies' taxed us for £50 - they wanted much more (I can't remember what now), but £50 was all the money we had, so eventually they accepted it. A friend had a legit jewellery stall the same year, and his pitch fee within the main markets area (a prime spot - tho where we'd pitched wasn't any worse) was around £700 I think.

We actually sold far far less than we'd believed we would do (we'd turned up with not much money, and we just about managed to survive the fest on small amount of money we took from sales), with nearly all sales happening at around 3am in the morning, when sparkly things suddenly became attractive to people that were VERY off their heads.
