Property Lockups

Hi, we have just got home after another fantastic week in Somerset working in a Property LockUp.

I have just setup a Facebook group (search GLOG) which i am hoping will show the powers that be how invaluable the Property Lockup service is at Glastonbury.

www.facebook.com/pages/Glastonbury-Property-Lockup-Opinions-Group-GLOG/138439472834440

My partner and I have been working in the Lockups at Glastonbury for many years, and just to confirm we have nothing to do with the setting up of the Lockups or anything official like that. We just turn up, camp with good friends, work our hours, raise a few quid for charity and have a great time with fellow workers and the good, bad and downright bizarre punters.

But this year there seemed a strange vibe around a number of the Lockups, with rumours about the being replaced with a more "corporate" option.

Please pop by and tell your story and help get the message accross to "The Man" ............

Love n Peas

Andy

The staff in the lockups were amazing. I lost my ticket and thought I would have no chance to collect my stash of fags and cash etc. The guys all worked together to help locate my stuff, going through the ticket books and through the shelves. After 20 minutes I was reunited with my gear. I was so chuffed I even gave a few quid to CND.

Great work!

What a lovely bunch of people, always happy to have a chat. I left my camera gear totalying over £2k worth with them in total confidence. Arrived each morning, took it out and dropped it back in the evenings.

I just dont see why more people dont use it, i left all of my keys and wallet in there. keeping small amounts of cash and my id on my lanyard.

I did love the makeshift bog roll bed, must be one of the comfiest beds on the site.

I was astonished how little stuff was in them to be honest. This year was the fist time I have used the lockups and I cannot speak highly enough of them. Rucksack in there with car keys etc in it, not a moment of worry about losing stuff all week. Staff were lovely, nice and helpful, can't speak highly enough of them. :D

Positively excellent service and as said all lovely people, we used the one at the top of the site at Big Ground and i forgot my ticket almost every morning i went to get money for the day :D , i did however put the number in my phone, they were very accomodating.

I would however give a person a number for the whole five days and not a new ticket every time you go back. Take personal details and a number that only that person would know, that should be security enough.

Yep absolutely amazing, put my keys and bank card in there, fantastic friendly people, gave some cash to the Children of Chernobyl charity, wicked service.

They advised me to take a pic of the ticket, which I did, sound advice, I bet tons of people lose their ticket!

Totally brill, couldn't fault them. We've left expensive SLR cameras with them before, this year my car keys, sat nav, CD player and a fair bit of cash... never have any worries :-) May be slightly biased as I have friends who work the Yorkshire CND lockup :)

There was a little confusion Wednesday lunchtime when I was asked for my phone number, as I had put my phone in he bag I was putting in the lock-up. Fortunately, someone else was keeping their phone with them (no idea why) and his number was OK.

I can't think of anything negative at all about any of the lock-ups I've used over many years. A brilliant service run by lovely people.

Thanks.

It was a really great service up in the dairy ground to, really nice people and my bag always come back fully infact :). I left my money, wallet keys and even some cans I had forgot to take out one night. I think mine was run by the welsh CND, great chaps, would be a shame to lose it to a corprate option as I used that at T and why I did get my own locker, I didn't feel as safe leaving my stuff in there, people were allowed in out of the area to , so someone could work on breaking the code. Plus, they were tiny, wheres you could leave as much stuff you wanted really in the lock ups :)

Used them for the first time this year as the top of Pennard Hill was hit quite hard by crime on the Wednesday night. I put my rucksack, camera, spare wallet (with emergency cash) and car/house keys. All the staff were helpful and friendly and I would definitely recommend everyone use the lockups. They are also a good place to store your trolley/wheelbarrow which I may take next year.

Have used them every Glasto I've attended since having my tent slashed and robbed in '97.

We leave most stuff in the lockups during the day, and valuables overnight. Also left our trolley in there.

It's always been a fantastic service, and this year was no exception, at least in the one by the JP :)

We used the one on lower end of pennards, dropped cash, doobage, camera and phones in, grabbed them back Fri afternoon when the money we'd kept was almost gone. Staff were friendly, service was excellent and I recommended them to friends who disregarded me, got drunk, fell asleep in their tent and then got robbed while they slept. I donated what I could afford, which made me feel nice :)

Thanks very much to all who provided the service. Is there a way to apply to help out next year? I was planning to work next year (as my daughter will be going with friends now dad has shown her the ropes) and this is something I would really like to do (let's face it, it beats stewarding/litter picking ;))

Couldn't be happier with this service.

I dropped all my kit there for an hour while I found my mates on the Wednesday (plan was to catch the football, but I was too late for that).

And I left my car key with them all weekend, which was a huge weight off my mind.

Yep - echo what everyone else is saying.

Staff were all great, stuff felt secure and it only took a moment to get it out or put it back.

Cannot understand why you would prefer to wander around on site with all your money on you or, worse, hidden in your tent.

Property Lock -Ups = Peace of Mind.

No need to change anything - it ain't broke. :)

the one down the end of pennards had a mixture of staff. last year they were all fab and chatted away and tried to help wen u were lost e.t.c but this year sum were thick or just plain rude. there were some goodies that knew what they were doing but the dumbos often stared at you like a thicko when you asked a question or just told u to 'move outside' when you wanted to check all ur stuff was in the envelopes. another guy told me 'its gonna get really busy here, you cant just keep taking stuff in and out'. like REALLY?! What an idiot!!!!!!

one time i noticed an envelope went in sellotaped together, and i got it back stapled together! This was the time she told me to 'move outside'. thankfully all was there and i didnt see her the rest of the time @ the lockup.

Needless to say they got no donation from me.

My previous experience of the Lock-ups have been superb

However this year was different. On Fiday afternoon I called into mine which was situated near the Park Holme field next to medical tent. I called in just to remove my car keys so I could pick up the rest of my beer from the car. I even told them I'd be back in a hour.

Upon removing my car keys they noticed that there was a slight tear in my envelope and put the rest of my belongings (cash & cash cards) in a new envelope and gave me a voucher.

When I returned with my car keys I handed them the voucher only to be told that there was no correspondind envelope and that I must of took everthing in the envelope.

After pleading with them that there must be a mistake and now I had no cash on me for the entire weekend and no means to draw some out I asked one of them to please look into it.

The response I got was - "Err..I'll do it after my fag"

Blood boiling now because of his dismissive attitude and I told him where to go & that I'll be back in half hour so he can check all the envelopes that have my name & address on.... went back later he hadn't. So I waited for the next shift of workers and they told me to come back just before midday on monday.

I did and there was 3 envelopes left and one of them was mine. Some of u might've figured it out by now. The div's gave me the voucher for the discarded envelope but not the one for the new envelope. The staff were very apologetic and asked for their descriptions and that they'd look into it. I doubt it.

Sory for the long rant folks but it feels good to get it out of me.

So I've now got £200 spare - any idea what other festival I can spend it on? ha

oh yeah - cheers to my mates who helped me to get by xx

Didn't use them last time but thought someone's idea of using them as a cash machine was a great idea and it was brilliant! Closer than the ATMs, no queues and I'd rather give a few quid to charity than to a thieving bank ;)

Also left two iPhones and an iPod. Even told the staff one time we "withdrew" some cash that that was what I was using it for. Totally trustworthy. Brilliant.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
