He'll be terrible as the England manager, for a start he wouldn't be able to drive the national team towards administration so that's one part of his management style out the window straight away.

:lol::lol::lol:

Edit: He also claims England have the best defence in International football and wouldn't even swap it for Spains

they were dreadful the other night, dreadful.

I know they had Lescott in there who's a way from first choice, but he was actually OK. Meanwhile Rio got caught out again and again and again. Of course, we all know that G.Johnson is a dreadful defender too, but he's less on the field for his defending skills than others.

So you think that the continual disaster of having the England team picked on the back pages of the papers is less funny?:lol:

Having the papers pick the team is proven to not work. What scares you so much about trying something different which at least has a possibility of working, rather than no chance?

I wouldn't have Alladyce as my first choice. I deliberately chose to use him as an example precisely because it's controversial.

According to 5live, Mill Financial (?) now own Hicks and Gillett's shares in Liverpool

:lol::lol::lol:

I hope Mill haven't paid much for them, as they're worthless (unless Mill pays the debt owed to RBS). They've been signed over to RBS as surety for the loans with RBS.

The BBC website has this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/robertpeston/2010/10/liverpool_it_could_be_all_over.html

But it's not quite fully accurate, as although RBS won't have any financial interest in Liverpool then, the board they appointed is still in place, and that board can't be changed unless Martin Broughton agrees to it.

So Mill will own an asset they don't control (at least initially), no different to how it was for H&G.

I'm fully aware that having the media pick the squad or manager doesn't work, but the idea of us being led by Big Sam?!? He's very good at making teams hard to play against, but that isn't what we need if we're going to have any chance of real success at international level. We need a manager that will encourage positive possession based football. If we can get that, plus get the fans to properly accept that it's going to take a number of years to change our style of play accordingly, then we might have a better chance of success.

I agree with you about Sam's style of play, but of course that's been limited to date by the finances of the clubs he's worked at. It's possible that with the greater options available as England manager he'd choose a different way - but probably not.

I mentioned him purely as someone who is likely to do things in his own manner, rather than allow himself to be dictated to by the press. And while it would probably be far from pretty football, you never know, it might work out (which we know the current way defo doesn't).

seems like Mill don't have the hold on things that Peston suggests. For a start, H&G can't let Mill have their shares (on whatever deal they might have done with Mill) - it's back to the company Articles of Association, which say that only the board can decide on any sale.

This is worth a listen too I reckon:-

Just gets better from Liverpool fans

Dear Partners,

I am sure you are aware in the about the Liverpool FC situation involving the sale of the club.

However due to the stress that Tom Hicks has brought to the people of the club and supporters I would like you to advise us on wether we can claim damages from Tom Hicks for his past 3/4 years of distress he has caused us. He has lied to everyone on every opportunity.

Therefore we would like to start a class action claim against him.

Yours

Liverpool FC Supporters

Unless the guy has taken 2 years and 70 posts in order to wait for this one ruse!

The replies on the other one are ace, they provide constant entertainment!

while they might be serious about doing it, the purpose is still really a pisstake. Surely you're not so dim or blinkered to miss that?

It's about throwing H&G an equivalent frivolous court case, and one which would damage them if successful in the same manner as they're damaging Liverpool.

While I'm sure if they did it and won a huge sum they'd be dancing in the streets at their success, it's clearly not about them trying to get some money for themselves or a belief that they've suffered damage or distress by H&G, but about wanting to f**k over H&G in the same way they feel H&G have f**ked over LFC.

C'mon. You're not that daft.

Or maybe you are?

Yes H+G haven't run things well, but have they really f#cked LFC over? Take out what was an incredibly lucky champs league win in 05, and what would their record under H+G look like in comparison? Given their second place finish in the league 2 years ago i'd say it's better. They gave lots of money to Rafa in the early part of their reign, that in the most part he wasted. During this time Rafa pretty much killed the LFC youth academy. Then when the credit crunch hit everyone, and their money dried up, they found that the squad that Rafa had built just wasn't good enough and there was no youth to replace them. For me Rafa f#cked over LFC far worse than H+G.

Spot on mate.

Rafa forced out Alonso (to try get Gareth f**king Barry).

Rafa bought Robbie Keane for 19m.

Rafa bought Aquilani for 17m.

Rafa bought Dossena for 7m.

Rafa bought Glen Johnson for 17.5m.

Rafa had Liverpool playing shite football.

Rafa spent 250m, averaging 17m a season NET spend, and left the club in a mess.

Yet hes above criticism in a lot of LFC circles.

Yet Fergie still gets stick for buying Djemba-Djema for 3.5m!!

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
