Outside the old 'big five' (that Tottenham, Arsenal, Man Utd, Everton and Liverpool for the youngsters) which club has spent the most time in the top flight in the past 50 years?

I didn't get this - well I did but it took me a few guesses.

yep - Yossi was more than decent.

What I can't quite grasp tho is why - when his complaint about Liverpool was not being first choice (tho he should have been) - he's swapped that for another club where he had even less chance of getting minutes on the pitch.

Yep, he was completely shit. It's the worst I've seen him play (and he's played very badly many times before). The whole team were just too static.

Ngog was matched in shitness by many other players on the park last night. Including one close to your heart.

£30 million spunked up front! Jeez, Newcastle must have been really laughing, thought it would at least be spread over a few years like most deals.

I'm pretty sure that Liverpool have had Chelsea pay for Torres up-front too, so it's all relative.

Why have Chelsea been done?

cos they were supposedly told that they had to pay £15M more for Torres than Liverpool were paying for Carroll.

If all the various stories are true (and I accept they might not be, or some might not be) then Liverpool shafted Chelsea for an extra £5M.

Still rate him over Darren Bent?

Like most of top-level footie, I don't much rate Darren Bent despite his scoring record.

That aside, if players are to be judged on yesterday's performance alone, then Meireles and others who played last night are similarly shit to Ngog too - and hopefully you're wise enough to recognise that Meireles and some others are not.

Any player plays at their best within a whole team that's working well - and nothing about Liverpool last night worked well, so that's not a game to make any permanent judgement of any players from.

Well if that happens, presume a pretty hefty loss, compounded if sell-on clause does exist.

End of the day though, any transfer is a risk. It's a f**kload of money for someone with limited top level experience but could well work out fine for them. Guy deserves a chance (and more than a 6 months) to see how he does at least.

I think he was talking about Torres. The same applies though, they take the hit and pay the invoices, like you do if your house price drops by 50%.

Either way its better than paying all up front.

no i'm talking torres. they've paid £24 million and he has two flops of a season. do they keep him to save face and keep up the 'smaller' payments or do they chuck him and give all of the transfer money that they've gained (and possibly more) to pay off their liverpool debt.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
