Another thing regarding Rooney, Everton possibly get a cut aswell.

Guess it'll come down to whether the sell-on clause expired in 2009 aswell. If not, then a £50m sell, will yield around £5.75m for Everton. £40 would be £3.25m etc.

That's good news for Everton then, fingers crossed it carries on after 2009! Hope Man City do buy him at £300,000 a week as the Metro are suggesting here:

http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/844306-wayne-rooney-move-ruled-out-by-real-madrid-as-manchester-city-prepare-bid

Edited to add: It does carry on but it's only 25% of any profit made. It's in the new Football Manager game!

Everton will receive £3m even if none of these events occurs provided Rooney, 21, remains registered with United until June 30 2007, and if United sell him Everton will receive 25% of any sum received by the Old Trafford club in excess of all amounts paid under this agreement.

The boot, the elbow, the push, the 'f**k off and take Lee Miller with you'...

Actually, he resigned with no compensation - so fair play to him really. I'm not one to want a manager to go at the drop of a hat, but Saturday really was the last straw in a long line of awful performances at home and complete spineless shite away.

Tony Mowbray will be manager by the weekend I'd have thought.

Madrid directory dude came out and said they don't need Rooney (i agree with this tbh, Mourinho finally seems to be getting them to play the way he wants, I'd def take cron and hig over Rooney in current form)

On a serious note, does anyone else think he'll go the 'gazza' route? Peak early then go downhill pretty fast?

Steve Mcmanaman was one of the most succesful british players to play abroad. One of the reason he did so well was he embraced spanish culture and learned the language. Rooney can hardly speak english and he cant imagine him eating paella.

Im sure rooney will stay in the premiership and be one of the better players for years to come. I felt he was overrated last season when the english media constantly went on about he was one of the world elite footballers with messi and ronaldo. It seemed odd to me that he was catapulted above drogba who i think scored more goals and made more assists. Never mind iniesta and xavi 2 of the greatest players of the generation. Saying that I dont agree with some who write him off and think if he stays in england he will regularly be one of the top 5 players in the league.

Why? Cos he was employed to manage a team that was once successful in playing the dross brand of football of Gordon Strachen? From memory he wanted rid of the entire team didn't he?

The only way really is up and Mowbray has a record in this division, as well as being a club legend.
