I'm quite proud of the fact that i've never sold a ticket for above face value. I've sold a fair few times on ebay for whatever reason (work commitments, i've bought better tickets etc), and my tickets have always been 'buy-it-now' for the price printed on the ticket + booking fee... this has been for some pretty high demand gigs but my outlook is... Karma is an absolute bitch and I quite like being able to sleep at night with my morals tucked safely under my pillow

I'm also VERY proud of the fact that i'm a big U2 fan, and my ticket has been safely put away and will not be making a special appearance on ebay anytime soon! :P

So someone who needs money for their rent/mortgage, the leccy bill, new coat for the kids, holiday money for someone in the family who's skint etc.is scum because they make a few quid on a festival that they couldn't get to?

To my mind the "opportunistic" profiteering from these tickets is morally equivalent to seeing somebody drop a tenner and taking it yourself rather than telling them. That's something I'd have done as a kid but wouldn't dream of now.

Unfortunately lots of people are weak when presented with an opportunity for a quick buck - e.g. inflated insurance claims being seen as a reasonable activity.

By buying the ticket in the first place, they've deprived someone else of the opportunity to get a ticket direct. Then they've charged someone more than they'd have paid direct.

How is that OK? Especially bearing in mind that the person actually providing the service (Eavis) specifically does not want people paying too much.

Can I just ask, do you people posting in this thread have tickets for this year?

Catch a f'ing grip of yourselves. 22 pages of drivel, debating over someone you don't know or haven't met and what they do with the ticket they bought with their own money. Seriously. Get a life.

It's now less than 2 weeks away, you should be looking forward to it, planning meet ups, and counting sleeps. etc.

Personally, I can't go this year (First I'll miss in 12 years) and it really hurts me that the people lucky enough to get tickets are sitting around bickering like this.

1. Did you buy the insurance

Yes - goto 3

No - goto 2

2. Do you have other travel insurance

Yes - goto 3

No - goto 5

3. Is your reason for not going covered by the insurance

Yes - goto 4

No - goto 6

4. Claim on the insurance

5. Grit your teeth and accept your loss. Consider getting insurance next time

6. Grit your teeth and accept your loss. Whatever reason you've chosen for not going, it's evidently worth more than £190 to you.

Its all good Ive got a plan for my ticket. Ive found some legit ones still on sale! Im going to keep to the Glasto ethos and pay seven grand plus vat to stay in Camp Kerala for the weekend. I can even take my helicopter there! Bow down to me and my free bar peons!!!!!

(Not really although it might be worth it just to hear the Chocky rant that would be directed at me upon arrival at Camp Pennard :P )

Just like to say I saw this ticket on EBAY when it was first advertised.Icontacted the person selling it to say it was not a wise move to advertise her ticket for sale with her name on.Which makes think she aint the sharpest knife in the box. However she has decided to go ahead with the sale which whilst it saddens me it does not surprise me.There have been many comments made which makes me think if some of you met her nothing better than a terminal illness befall her. Then there are the others who feel because we live in a get rich society she has the right to do has she pleases.Whos right and whos wrong i'm not sure, one thing for sure there are going to be over 150000 people

having a great time and perhapsif we relaxed a little, then minor issues like this aint worth worring about.

In case any one from the Glastonbury organisation is reading this then maybe there should be some way that people who cannot make the festival should be able to sell their tickets for them, with say a £10 administration cost. That way any one being unable to attend whould get most of their money back and people who could attend at the last minute would have the opportunity to attend.

There was a tout on the V Forums a while back now who was trying to sell his/her ticket for (I think) £300.00+.

When everyone had a go at him/her they said back "OMG STOP COMPLAINING NO ONE SELLS THEIR TICKET FOR FACE FALUE ONE EBAY!!" or something along the lines of that with far worse grammar and spelling. Reported the bastard as I found that most of their posts were just dire.

I don't claim to speak for everyone who goes. But I do know some things on that score.

Not everyone who goes is skint. Not everyone who goes is flush with cash either. Not everyone could afford touted ticket prices and those prices would prevent many who currently go from going. Some can't afford the listed ticket price and have to work their way through the festival.

But you have chosen to stand up for someone who chooses not to go and wants to make a huge profit out of it on the basis that they might not have much money and might need holiday spends. Yet you haven't considered that some people want to go and can't afford those inflated prices. That is the hypocritical bit. You try to plead poverty for someone's actions on the one hand, when it apparently suits your argument, but try to reject that same argument when it is used to defeat it.

Feel free to not understand this and to try to deflect from this discussion yet again.

You're quite ludicrous really. You don't really take any notice of anything that's put to you but carry on with some one size fits all scenario, set up arguements that you've invented and then knock them down.I've just tried to show that there could be many different reasons why someone you don't know from Adam might not be a scumbag. If it makes you feel important thinking that they are go ed.

I was being rational. I never made sweeping statements such as all Glastonbury festival goers aren't skint (paraphrased). Nor did I use a one size fits all argument. What I did do was turn your "poverty" argument on its head and point out the basic hypocrisy in it.

Profiteering from a non-profit charity event is not an honourable thing to do, no matter how many times you or others try to claim otherwise.

edit: p.s. had I taken no notice what I was replying to then my responses would have been non sequiturs. They quite clearly weren't.

Would you describe selling a ticket for the highest price possible as a communist thing to do old bean? Please do point out how profiteering from such a ticket does not fit with the capitalist system. You know, explain the "bloody peculiar grasp of capitalism" comment you made.
