Always have at least one weepie at Glasto.

Highlights have included Brian Wilson doing "God Only Knows" (had to ring Mrs GH and share the moment) and Joan Baez singing "Where But For Fortune" in the Acoustic Tent. A big bloke standing next to me put his arm round me and asked "Are you alright mate?" to which I replied: "Yes, it's just beautiful."

2007. It being the only time I thought I would ever get to see Shirley Bassey, I left Billy Bragg at Avalon. I really didn't want to leave. Mr Bragg had just said he was going to do a cover, and asked the audience to pick one of two artists. Elvis, which got a big cheer, or, The Kinks, which got an even bigger one. That made me laugh for a start.

It was upon leaving, and the realisation that there was a bigger audience outside the tent than in it, and that all of the nearby stalls and cafes had turned off their sound systems and everyone just seemed so engrossed.

I am not really one for national pride and all that, but at that moment, Billy Bragg, The Kinks, about to see Shirley Bassey, at Glastonbury, possibly just a tiny bit too much cider. Just a perfect, British afternoon.

That got to me, that did.

Oh, and of course, how could I forget last year? Having just had a major health scare mid June and in hospital until an operation on the Thursday - out the Friday, the week before the festival, and being told by everyone that Glasto was a no no (except for the good and wise on this site, (you know who you are)), then seeing my GP on the Monday and getting the OK, rushing around panicking trying to get disabled access, rearranging travel and last minute everything type thing. I was just so grateful and amazed at both being there (having pretty much written the idea off a fortnight beforehand) and still being here. And on lots of new medication. I was pretty emotional and close to tears a lot that weekend.

Leaving on the Monday always gets to me.

And accidentally thinking about work when I'm there.

It'll be something surprising this year.

Edit: Come to think of it, I'm getting too excited already

I always get overwhelmed and choked up at the Sunday night headliners at the Pyramid just because it's near the end and the whole atmosphere just gets me every time so I guess this year it'll be Stevie Wonder and the song will either be As or Isn't She Lovely...

Thanks for starting this thread, I thought it was just me who got all teary eyed and emotional now I know i'm not a weirdo!

The only time I've filled up was watching Shirley Bassey in 2007.. she was my mum's idol and it wasn't too long after my mum passed away.. just a personal thing, I spose..

There might be a tear on the friday night when U2 were sposed to be on.. I was so looking forward to seeing my fave band at my most fave place in the world.. ah well.. I'm sure the Gorrillaz will more than make up for not seeing them...

2008 for me - Elbow and Newborn - well I say Newborn - it was really every song from Newborn until the end of the set. - Man I was a mess.

Then onto the Pigeon Detectives for a proper Mosh - and then lost my phone - it was only a crappy work one but somehow felt like a major event especially as I lost my brother at that point as well and therefore couldnt phone him to find out were he was

Then sat down knackered on a pile of wooden pallets eating some dodgy noodles listening to Massive attack

Then staggred up to the tent in thing (Bimble Inn?) at the park were I watched a fantastic band all dressed as cows.

Man I was a staggering, writhing, mess of emotions after all that - went to bed !

Well I didn't shed a tear but I was far from happy. It was 2007 and I had just had the best time of my life with 5 days of solid drinking and partying hard whilst it rained and rained and rained. I was pure buzzing when I watched Chemical Brothers then on the way back to the tent the rain was to much, walking up a slope was impossible but I finally made it. I had a coach to catch at 4am, the time came and my mates started to get ready but I just could not be f**ked and they left me. I did start to walk about 20mins later and walked thru a puddle with water just pouring into my boots, proper pissed off but wouldn't change it for nothing.

This will be my first time so not sure what to expect. For me I expect it will be during Brothers by Hot Chip. Its a nice gentle song about bromance. Reminds me of all the cracking goods times with my best mates (brothers), both of who are going.

Last year I spent most of Sunday crying due to finding out 1 of our cats had died whilst we were at glasto...But I really shed a tear at Tom Jones singing 'The Green, Green Grass' cos My Boyfriend was crying at that 1st cos it was his Mum's fave Tom song and it was played at her funeral :(

Last year unexpectedly Lilly allen's set; she seemed to be proud at the turnout and seemed overwhelmed by the occasion, and wanted to make it a family affair. When she brought out her little sister that was it for me, as I was missing my young daughter at home and hadn't spoken to her for a day or so with crappy phone access, so it hit a spot.

So did blur, when damon went I went too.!! shiver down spine and if there was a total togetherness in the field that night.

2007 was Killers ending off and the Who ,who basically blew everyone away, and although the rain teamed down it didn't matter.

This year bets are on Stevie (lately) and Ray Davies, or perhaps if Mcintosh ross break into Dignity

Last time was in 2008, Amsterdam doing 'Joe's Kiss' got me a little emotional.

Ian: “The best song on the record and maybe the best song I’ve ever written. I don’t know where it came from but I’d never like to go back to that place I was in when it arrived. I’m really happy with the recording of it too; Ian McNabb plays his Rickenbacker on the riff and it just sounds massive. I still struggle to get through it in one piece when we play it live.”

Paul: “Just a great song, I know it touches people because the lyrics are really personal but, for me, the music is just as important and the whole thing just works perfectly.”

The Universal last year, when Damon announced it was their last song I started reminiscing about the previous five amazing days that my first Glasto, thought to myself "What an incredible place".

Then Damon yelled GLAAASSSTONBURRRY!!! and welling up ensued. Just a perfect moment.
