I have taken it that kids will get over it. Adults dont so why would kids. This has upset me for some reason. Sorry.

Barry's words .... note the 'hopefully', and 'can' - rather than "will". Your error.

Kids are strong things and hopefully with the right care she can be healed. THe younger the better with this type of thing they was saying.

Yes. If there is one thing I've learnt about humans is our enormous capacity to overcome grief and trauma. People including young people get over the most horrific traumas that occur on a daily basis. Watching your mother waste-away of cancer or some other illness. Laying trapped in the wreckage of the car that has killed the rest of your family.

Or, I mean, okay let's go with her ethnicity, Iraqi. We helped killed perhaps a million Muslims, perhaps more out there. Having committed genocide in the city the Americans left Fallujah a hot-spot of grotesque birth deformities. Unlike this poor child, their misery is compounded by an infrastructure the Americans bombed to dust and where sectarian atrocities still rage.

Yes, humans - annually in their in their tens (or more) of millions - including children do get over the most appalling traumas.

I don't doubt or want to mitigate in the least what the children will face over the next few weeks, and years, and decades.

From what I could read into his post Barry wasn't trivialising what had happened, but if you read his post that way I can understand you lashing out.

Let's peace out on this. Nobody here is blasé about what has just happened.

clegg backs down from telling it like it is.

i dislike the man more and more each day.

a bigot is a bigot, or am I missing something glaringly obvious?

what you're missing is the power that the religious lobby hold over govt. He can't call them what they are, because they're bigots on god's orders. ;)

Kelvin McKenzie has just made an apology, claiming he was misled by the police and a local MP.

While I get that a person in his position is likely to hold a greater belief in establishment figures like those than he would joe bloggs, I feel that's too easy a cop-out for him.

But at least he's done the decent thing quickly after the report was published, and for the first time has given a real apology.

When the first person goes to jail for what happened on that day, I will dance naked down the high street. You can quote me on that, because I fear it will never happen. Accountability is a very very empty word indeed when it comes to the ruling classes.

Yup, sadly I think you're right.

Dave "you don't reward failure" Moron has given gongs and the like to a number of the ministers he recently sacked.

Nothing changes.
