I think spains midfield lacked the balance of 2008, senna played a massive role in that tournament and he was definitely missed. A lot of people will overanalyze spain after this result but I supppose if your going to lose, the group stage is the time to do it. Switzeland actuallly defended superbly, so I hope that not lost in the coverage. The result is a big one for the brazil group, people thought that ivory coast or portugal were last 16 at best but now they will be looking at an easier quarter final route. Hey spain may not even quallify for the last 16.

Doing the predicion it could also open up the draw for italy. I actually have england v brazil and italy v argentina semis with the 2 south american sides in the final.

Another victory for anti-football today. Not to discredit the Swiss who played very well, but so much of modern football is about defending rather than attacking, and it's getting a bit dull.

In saying that, the Spain group looks like the most exciting, as Chile looked good earlier today.

If Chile get a point against Spain, then I reckon that Spain are out - if it's a case of Chile only needing a draw against the Swiss then they've got the players to do that.

Switzerland are through IMO - they'll get three points against Honduras and six should be enough to go through - it's a battle between Spain and Chile to go through with them.

quite enjoying listening to the games on the radio, rather wish I was at home watching them on the couch though. Hopefully catch a few games before and after Glastonbury while i'm off.

The Chile game today sounded like a cracker, given Spains result today could make the group very interesting.

    • It was great, but I don't know why they continue to play Wide Lovely Eyes and Rings of Saturn, which are the weakest of the tracks off both PTSA and ST. Well, I do. It's cos they're about Suzie, so he can sing what he wants. They're the low points of the set. The rest is ace.
    • I didn't this time, but I've seen them before and just because you saw both that night doesn’t mean you can compare them. The Stones were great, but.you didn't think so and you went somewhere else looking for a good time and you found it. For whatever reason you didn't like it, but you were an outlier and all the reviews said they were great.
    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, i.e a verbal agreement for 2028, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
