There's been not accurate info coming from some people (for whatever reasons, perhaps things got changed), but I'd also presumed that if they were announcing some (I was told 'some', not all) acts for West Holts then they'd be announcing a similar number for at least the Pyramid and Other Stages. It seems that presumption was wrong.

that set was the most fantastic set I saw all of last summer - I don't know what it was about it, but it was spine-tingling!!

If you like Dennis' work, also check out 'Blackbeard' (him under another name), and any of the Linton Kwesi Johnson stuff where Dennis does the music.

God, I'm looking like a right dick aren't I - but yep, don't like this either! I am happy to find something to convert me - trumpets (especially those muted) and plinky plonky piano are especially no no's for me.

What do people think of the new name? Fair enough - 'Jazzworld' does not really sum up the stages programming these days. But naming it after the old field name? TBH, its the 'Other' stage that could really do with a new name and identity (and no, not NME etc.). 'West Holts' does feel a bit unimaginative to me, but does hint of new life being breathed into that area for this year so looking forward to exploring it. I wonder if the new name will stick this time.

I am really struggling to see why I have offended you quite so much - there are much more strongly worded rants all over the site. Perhaps it is because you personally are offended. My point, and I've made this point before on other threads, is that Radiohead fans are the first people to moan about anything that gets announced that isn't "Radiohead Are Playing" and it's boring and dull. What I'm doing is exploring possible reasons why they make their uninteresting and, frankly, not useful contributions. I am sure that there is absolutely no racial element to their choices and that it is generally based on the music they like or (more often) don't like and my real suspicion is that it is based on NOT liking music at all but wanting to belong to some kind of sub-set of society by being part of the "Radiohead Family". (I should, in all seriousness, point out that I had a very unpleasant disagreement with a couple of Radiohead fans in a pub I used to work in when they were explaining why they didn't like "this black sh*t" when I put some Motown on the jukebox. They were very definitely NOT racist but they were very happy to dismiss music based on it's origins. Before you begin, I know this isn't all Radiohead fans (and clearly not you!) but they made the same negative, bleating noises as those frequently expressed on this forum and, as with anyone else, my opinions and thoughts are based on my experiences and reference points. In other words, don't try and kid yourself that you don't stereotype - we all do. We have to otherwise we wouldn't be able to recognise anything we hadn't explicitly seen before. And thus it follows that, in my experience, Radiohead fans have a tendency to be dismissive of other styles of music without bothering to listen to them.)

I have no idea what happened on the T-Forum - I don't go to T and so wouldn't have been on the forum.

Also, I don't think it's a good idea to go stirring up gang tensions. And the Rockers looked far more scary any way.

Yeah, World Music Stage isn't bad, sort of Glasto's answer to WOMAD or something. Plenty of music like that has appeared on there in the past, and it leaves it open to some degree of artistic license as well since the stage has largely become a place where artists that don't quite fit any stage elsewhere tend to end up.

As said elsewhere by others on this forum, sounds like a tube station or a little cotswold village you get dragged along to see by your parents when you're young. Oh well, West Holts it is - just doesn't quite speak to me like 'Avalon' or 'Acoustic' somehow, though I respect its traditional field name. "Where you going now mate? Oh, I'm just off to West Holts now to catch <insert band>" Hmm, dunno.

I mentioned this in another thread - I like it because it's got a Geographical/history influence to the name, it's not a flashy name, and it's unpretentious like the rest of the names of the main stages on site.

In a year where the festival has been criticised for 'selling out' (see Singstar Tent thread) it's a good, normal, unassuming name for a top area of the site.

A BIG thumbs up from me.
