Sorry if this doesn't warrant a new topic. Just wanted to round up some rumours and claims over at the Punktastic site and forums. I'll list them below:

********************************************************************************

1. I know this is a bit "my dad's auntie's brother's step-brother is Fred Durst's window cleaner" etc, but a guy over there claims the following:

someone who has been talking to zane low (apparently) has said that the announced bands on monday will be -

friday - libertines and arcade fire

saturday - blink 182 and paramore

sunday - guns n roses and my chemical romance

with korn, four year strong, qotsa, all time low, hole, the macabees, a day to remember, glassjaw and limp bizkit.

People know most of that I'm sure, but thought the Korn, QotSA, Limp Bizkit shouts could prove something, as they've been suggested on here too.

********************************************************************************

2. This isn't a new claim I know. But I've been wondering about where Arcade Fire will play. Punktastic has the usual headliners: Blink, G'n'R, AF, with Libs as special guests. They edited this with 'EDIT - Punktastic has been told Arcade Fire are headlining the NME Tent.'

********************************************************************************

3. This seemed the most interesting, but I'm not even sure if the Twitter accounts are legit, and they could mean any festivals. Though I haven't seen LostProphets or Limp Bizkit announced for any festivals yet:

Jamie from Lostprophetst twittering Fred Durst

@freddurst Hey Fred, nice chatting with you at that Pizza place today. Wanted to DM you to ask some stuff about festivals this summer.cheers

@JayLostprophets good running into you today. Looks like we'll be in UK the same time

@freddurst Cheers bud, look forward to it. we spoke brief about JS, what's the best way to contact? You can DM me, good luck next 2 weeks

Oh god there's so many credible and believable rumours.

Well, there are .... but you've got to remember that a lot of them are coming from the same sort of people who only a couple of weeks ago were convinced that Green Day were playing cos the Daily Star had said so. So really, how credible is much of it? :P

I have two sources - who have been giving great info for years and who have given me right R/L acts for years - both telling that that AF are headlining the main stage.

They might be wrong. But until the announcement happens, and in the absence of reliable info from elsewhere, I'm keeping my belief with those sources. :P

I am very sceptical about that list, I just dont see glassjaw as a band who would be advertised in the first announcement. They would be low main stage, mid radio 1 or high fr or lock up. From memory this type of act gets announced a lot later.

I am loving the way our NME headliners are now potentially Main stage headliners, can you imagine the same in 07?

"I wonder if The View and Klaxons will be headlining the NME or the Main Stage"

I hope that if Arcade Fire are NME, they don't clash with Guns N Roses or Blink.

Its funny how different people see things differently. For the slot they were in, I thought the view played a fun set and pople knew a few songs. Brand new however were on a lot of peoples most disappointing act of the festival list. Im sure in a tent they would have gone down better, but in the arena it was clear that most people did not know who they were.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
