Hospitality camping area

Last year my normal route to and from wicket ground was completely ruined by that stupidly big green wall. It used to be really easy to cut across to the JP tent and dance field through the cinema field. it also meant the milk truck didn't come anywhere near.

Is it going to be there this year ?

I did email the Glastonbury Infoman about this very point:-

Subject: Question regarding PGA

Hi,

I am hoping you can help. Just wondering with all the changes for 2010 up in the PGA area if when you come through PGA you will still have to walk around the Hospitality area as in 2009. As originally before 2009 you could just come in via PGA and walk down the hill past the John Peel Stage.

REPLY:-

Dear Mark

It was recognised not to be perfect last year, and changes are to be implimented this year, but Hospitality area will still be in the same place as last year.

In peace, Infoman

So it is looking likely they have listened to peoples requests and the walk down from PGA past JPS will be back in some form. I hope.

It was crap inside it too, and there was loads of empty space.

Interesting fact though, that green fencing was the old festival fence from pre superfence days being brought back into action. Had faded Banksys on the back and all sorts.

I don't read that at all - the key part is ' Hospitality area will still be in the same place as last year. '

so if that is true then its not moving - perhaps they intend to make the path around it better - only time will tell

Stick it somewhere where it won't piss of the punters who took the green option and came by public transport.

They should be making it easier for us who came by coach/train to get into and round the site, not forcing us to take massive detours. :P

Moving hosptality there was incredibly unpleasant, spoiled the whole camping vibe of the area and killed the fabulous outdoor cinema. And they're going to keep it there? MORONS.

If hospitality really needs to have it's own area, it should be well away from everyone else!

If you look at ariel photos of last year you can see it most definately wasnt packed in hospitality, there was a lot of unused ground, unlike the disabled area which was right next to it and where the entrance was obstructed for vehicles needing to go in to it by that stupid bloody green fence and everyone in disabled camping crammed together as close as possible.

Does anyone have any photos of last year taken in the guest camping area ?

I have been passing past the old guest camping area on various years as I was working in the Guest bar and I would not describe it as being really packed but last year I was working in the WBC Village bar so had no need to go into it this year.

In general the Guest camping area at any event is a lot less packed than the public areas but if someone has not camped in both they may presume its all like that .

Just had a further update from the Glastonbury Infoman:-

Dear Mark

I think I told you that Hospitality area will stay where it was last year. This is only partly correct, as it will be moving the western boundary eastwards, so the area will barely be occupying 'Woodsies', thus opening up access to JP Stage area and beyond.

In peace, Infoman

GOOD NEWS !

Tell you what tho, if you were actually in hospitality camping because you were working, rather than on a blag, and had to be up and out at 9am to start your graft, last years quiet camping area was a godsend.

In previous years, being stuck with a campsite full of braying pissed cokehead Brightonians and sleeping next to an all night private rave marquee meant you either didn't sleep to recharge or had to drink so much to blot it out you woke up feeling shite.

But the area given over to yurts and pods last year was completely over the top.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
