Band of Horses

Ooooh good spot. This would be HUGE for me if they played. I missed them last time they played (did they play last year?), and my mate who went recommended them to me. I now own both albums and ADORE them both.

I'd be ecstatic if they played.

The Funeral is a beautiful song.

Didn't play in the UK last year as far as I know, I saw them the year before - they really were quite brilliant.

I've seen them a couple of times now, and am seeing them in April, and they have been terrific both times.

I didnt get to see them in 2008(?) as they must have clashed with someone else but they would be a fine addition to the line up.

They are many times superior to Fleet Foxes.

I see Band of Horses are playing European dates (incl Roundhouse) in June - Saw them at Shepherds Bush at couple of years ago and they were tremendous, would be a great addition to the main stage, a kind of Fleet Foxes sort of time on Saturday I reckon...

The same guy who recommended BoH to me also recommended Fleet Foxes to me at the same time.

I like FF a lot (especially Meadowlark) but they're not a patch on BoH. I find the vocals in BoH (sorry, no idea on names of the band members or anything) really beautifully haunting, but a bit too warbly in FF.

Personally, I'd love to see BoH headline the Park Stage on the Saturday night, with I Am Kloot, Tunng or Show of Hands underneath them. Or any combination of the above.

I liked fleet foxes a lot at first, but I quickly tired of the album and I doubt very much I will ever play it again. Both the BoH albums I never tire of listening to. Though I do think the first better than the second (as is usually the case). My favourite song is possibly "I go to the barn..."

I fully concur with your Park Stage play order, but can we PLEASE squeeze the walkmen in there too??

I've seen them a few times, last time was at Rock Werchter in '08. Absolutely magnificent everytime. Along with Arcade Fire they're the band that has excited me most over the last 5 years. Live they are just amazing, Ben's voice is sublime. I dragged a bunch of mates who had never heard any of their songs to see them at RW, and they were just blown away. Phenomenal band...

...and my own favourite

I'd love to see them too- I still to this day have no idea how I managed to be unawares that they were playing in 2008! It was only after I got back and was watching some of the footage that I realised my foolish oversight.

What is it with these smaller US bands not playing in Manchester anymore? I'm already having to commute to london town to see the National, and then again to see Pavement, so i can't really afford to see Band of Horses too. Oh well, fingers crossed!

    • Sadly, the ticket map below screams rear 5 blocks not on sale or never have been on sale. Especially when you look at the blue blocks with rows of unsold tickets.   And I say all of this as a big fan of Muse.
    • Personally, I don't think there will be any changes to the queuing system in place for the 2025 sale.  GFL will be aware that true bots are a risk, but they may also see large collectives of organised folks running multiple devices, containers or profiles to get an advantage as bots themselves, and then struggle to know where to draw the line without penalising folks who are simply more on the ball than others.   They will also be acutely aware that engineering tech to close those gaps will cost, and therefore eat into the money they are able to pass to the Charities, without passing those costs on to punters in the ticket price, which they will be cautious of doing especially after a 2 year break and the inevitable media coverage that will get.   This may all be naive and overly trusting of me though.....
    • went to their album launch show last night at the george tavern. it was fantastic! absolutely roasting in there though
    • I got mine yesterday but they sent the wrong ticket link, so had to email Ticketmaster and get the right one.    As for predictions, hard to see who else could do the Pulp/Sting/Byrne slot other than the Cure, and since they did Isle of Wight they maybe have an FR deal (Sting did both). It’s also the Cure’s 50th next year so imagine they’ll be doing a bigger tour. Pet Shop Boys or Kylie maybe?   Wolf Alice would be a dream. It’ll probably all be men again though.
    • Probably a couple of months yet....last ticket sale announcement was 10th October 2024.
