The Stevie Set List

Glastonbury is a "soft" festival folks. Its full of heart and against all odds it leaves cynicism at the door. If you want a balls out, heavy sexy festival then I suggest youre at the wrong gig.

Stevie can never repeat the Rainbow show that T Blair went to in the 1970s but he'll still knock out 10 or 15 all time classics & a result he'll be fine - perfect for Sunday night. Music that will sooth and nourish the soul - isnt that exactly what the festival is all about?!?! The much vaunted James Brown wasnt "soft" when he played and myself and other notables left halfway through. I thought it was a total mess to be honest.

Other notable "softies" Ive seen that have gone down a storm:

Blur

Elbow

Brian Wilson

Paul McCartney

Let the other fests trip over one another in poxy attempt to be "cool". Glasto is too big to be cool. What it isnt too big to be though is to take itself too seriously. And we have to be v thankful for that.

Unlike you to be so negative mate btw.

;)

but i don't think my post was overly negative. I still am counting on it being a good set. i am just being cautious that it might be a bit generic. by 'soft' i was referring to the Nal's terminology and what i thought he meant by that. I didn't mean "soft" as in the genre of the act, but by the actual show said act will put on. Perhaps 'safe' is a better word as to what i'm worried about. Why was Rod Stewart so bad in 2002? it was how he played the tunes, how he came across. You could argue that he could have done it properly as he has a catalog, and he could have had a good set. but he played as if the audience were a bunch of grannies.

VERY excited about Stevie.

Though I hear he never plays Misstra Know It All which would be a shame (I love that track), but as long as we get Sir Duke and I Wish I'll be happy.

Can't wait for this, but I really hope he's stopped doing that annoying thing he did on his last DVD where all the slushy songs went on too long and the funk stuff was shortened.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
