Begin to officially 'discorage' them, in the Fine Guide etc., and tell traders not to sell 'em either. Then, hopefully, a bit of self policing will take over and it will become less and less acceptable to have quite so many up front. Mind you, officially banning laterns hasn't worked . . .

Flags, books, anyone holding a flag, anyone reading a book, anyone near someone holding a flag and anyone who admits to ever having read a book - just to be safe.

Two suggestions:

1) Those of us who want the flags gone start a loud collective chant 5mins before each band comes on. Along the lines of "Put the F**king flags down", "Flag wavers are w*nkers" etc. If we chant it loud enough, we will embarass some, if not all of them. The more flags come down, the more isloated and inconsiderate the remainder appear.

2) Take a flag (but dont stick it on a pole), stand in front of a flag waver and hold your flag up right in front of their face and see how they feel about it.

perhaps while were at it, something could be done about all the inconsiderate tw*ts that insist on taking chairs to the front of the stages and leave them up while they stand up to watch the bands! these piss me off more than the flags, im convinced the main areas seem alot more crammed because of the chairs, the jazzworld for rolf last year was pathetic, the acoustic stage had nice little posters outside last year with "no chairs beyond this point" which was nice, it'd be more difficult to enforce at the main stages i know, but maybe a line or two in the fine guide would help people realise how valuable space is!

OK, you fork out for all the treatment to fix my smashed up ankle (motorbike accident), and if it works then great, then you can get everyone else fixed (including those with disabilities of course) then you can have your ban. In the meantime stop being so bloody selfish and wake up to the fact the the world does not exist soley for your benefit. "These people" as you call us might have non-visible disabilities that cause us a lot more hassle that simply moving away from a char causes you.

Sorry to be blunt, but honest to god some people really can't see past the end of their nose.

I agree there are too many flags at the front nowadays.

But I don't see how you'd enforce a ban at Glastonbury, without seriously affecting the vibe. What's suggested? Burly security guards pushing through the Pyramid crowd confiscating flags?

At Download, they can turn people away at the arena gates. Plus, nobody'd be surprised to get aggro from stewards at Download. At Glastonbury it would ruin the festival.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
    • Interesting the stat guys say 3 points and -3 goal difference is where it gets to 50/50 territory in terms of going to the last 32. If Scotland lose their last 2 at best they are on -1, play like they did yesterday and they could take a heavy loss.   However thinking about it positively get 4 points from the last 2 games and the group is won! Have heard a few saying Scotland should just park the bus next 2 games, but not sure they have the players to do it. From my perspective they could really do with a decent defensive midfielder to add balance, but not sure if they have one in the squad. They also need significantly more from Mctominay who I thought was poor, but understand he has been unwell.
    • Yup and they aren't all going to get them, some are going to miss out. Speaking of this, I met someone at RIP who went to RFP and his view was band wise it's value for money but it wasn't a festival itself he'd be rushing to return to. In fairness as well he probably liked more of the headliners there than me this year whereas I was more undercard and he wasn't returning.
    • Maybe Starmer's legacy will be a war with Russia.
    • How were GnR? Seen some videos and pictures and let's just say, the crowd to the sides at the front and in front of the sound tents were let's just say... Sparse compared to LB.
