While you'll probably think I'm just blowing my own trumpet, I genuinely believe that efestivals does a better job overall* of accurately reporting stuff like this than other sources.

The "other festivals" bit came from a press release put out by Leftfield.

My standard guess with any reformed act is that they won't play Glastonbury, because Glastonbury doesn't pay top dollar and reforms are nearly always about the money.

I guess with those two, first off they did hugely well first time around and don't need the money. While Leftfield were successful, their success was hugely down on those two acts.

Someone has already posted that they know that Leftfield were approached for an Arcadia DJ set (which I can't verify, but have no reason to disbelieve), and they quoted a very high price. I think that makes clear it's about the money, and that Glasto won't get them on the cheap - which pretty much means they're unlikely to be at Glasto I would think.

i hope they do play, but for selfish, nostalgic reasons. i skived school to buy Leftism on the day it came out. seeing them in Manchester Academy in (i think) 96 was the only gig ive ever been to that was so loud the bass physically dictated when i could breathe - it literally pushed the air in and out of my lungs.

their set at Glasto in 2000 on the Other Stage was ridiculously busy, though i hold my hands up as part of that problem as i walked straight in without a ticket that year with thousands of others.

i urge anyone interested in hearing what they're like live to track down their gig at Homelands in 2000 - it shouldn't take too much Googling as it went out on Radio 1. absolutely awesome suff.

of course, having written this, they'll never live up to my memories now

I see Leftfield have just announced another festival date. Boardmasters? in Cornwall. I'm assuming it's a surfing thing.

Could this mean a summer of festivals?...... including Glasto! I do hope so.

i love leftism, to this day its still 1 of my fav albums , i have seen them 2 1st time was at tribal gathering. i kept telling my mate i cant wait till they come on ,i was really looking forward to seeing them live, my mate who also really likes leftfield too ,kept saying to me you wont like em. i said its leftfield they gonna be amazing. how wrong i was, i ended up leaving half way through they was that bad . 2nd time i saw them they was even worse , if they played the album , it would of been great but they remixed most of the songs , and to say it was bad is a gross understatement. but still its a great album

Have to say its a pritty rubbish set of festival appearances, no proper grassroots festivals which is a shame.. Just hope the tour is abit better when its released..
