Another awesome thing about efests - being introduced to music I previously hadn't heard.

I've listened to a few tracks recently and I look forward to catching him at Glasto. He's cool.

What would you recommend as 'essential' GSH listening, anyone?

That new album is f**king genius, really brilliant. He's done some good stuff, some embarrassingly mawkish stuff and some stuff that's just wrong, but I absolutely love this new album. Right up there with his very finest.

Hmmm... well his style changed a bit from the more raw poetry stuff in his earlier years to more song based stuff towards the end of the 70s. I would recommend:

1. Pieces of a Man

2. Winter in America (probably his best)

3. The First Minute of a New Day (sounds musically different to most stuff)

4. 1980 (I really like this one, and it only just got issued on cd last year)

If you like those then maybe try 'It's Your World' and maybe 'Reflections', which is when he was starting to decline a bit but has two good songs- 'Gun' and the excellent 12 minute attack on Ronald Reagan 'B Movie'

enjoy!
