Soundgarden

Like it or not the whole reformation thing is big money. Lots of free publicity, a ready made fan base of both old fans wanting to see their fave acts again & the younger fans who were too young the first time round.

Cornell's solo career never really took off so whilst promoters are throwing big cash at reformed bands why not? Faith No More & Limp Bizkit last year. Creed, Blink 182, No Doubt & now Soundgarden, all bands that members have gone off & done other projects that haven't reaped the same success (although you could argue Gwen Stefani's solo career did pretty well). Yes it reeks of blatant profiteering but this is nothing new or exclusive to older bands reforming. Kings of Leon changed their sound massively to get that fat cash, they went from an interesting southern rock band to a dull MOR rock band & got paid because of it.

Is this what people want in there music...

have you thought that there may be a possibility of when these people finish solo projects or whatever, they might want to get back together with their friends and play some old songs? sure, money is going to be a big factor, but alot of people involved in reformations probably dont need the money as much as you're making them out to need it. if they want to get back together, let them. if you have a problem with it, dont watch them.

doesnt matter hoe much money you have, you will always want more.

like ive said before I wont watch.

I like the music I like to have a bit of integrity about it, just a pity that the youth of today just want watered down music.

I find it funny how bands reform rejuvinating their standing in the music world. EG Both FNM and Soundgarden were both struggling to fill academy size venues when they split and now reformed both considered major festival headliners (or additions) Maybe it's a sign of how down hill music has gone in the last 10 years!!

Bit of both i reckon....but both FNM & Soundgarden were both doing really well before they split. The biggest example of that tho was RATM last year....split up in 2000 after playing 4th on Main Stage at Reading(wer big enough to have a higher slot then - but still), then seemed to get played everywhere in clubs etc, people missed them and a younger generation got into them and then suddenly in 2007/08 when they reform theyr the most in-demand band at festivals throughout the world.

I've just had an @reply back from DownloadFest on Twitter saying "You know as much about SG as we do at the moment. Announcement soon, I know your hungry for news!" Makes me think the Soundgarden thing might be a pipe dream, then again, they could be tryin' to throw us off the scent!

Looks intresting. I've been told my a mate whose reliable (and whose source is reliable) about another band who are (apparantly) confirmed for Download who I haven't seen any of you mention yet so I wouldn't be so soon to doubt the guy posting on the Pearl Jam forums that he knows the line up, maybe he just can't keep as quite as he should :P

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
