Can't bear her whinging and whining and she is one of the few artists that make me feel I need to turn the radio off when she comes on. This is one of those times when someone is suggested for Glastonbury and i have a massive urge to scream Nooooooo! Noooooo! NOOOOOOO!

....but then I remember Glastonbury is a big place and there is room for lots of stuff i don't like alongside all the stuff I do like and I feel calm again.

Awful, sickening, horrible, hideous, fun and popular music. Which a lot of people would enjoy listening to. And who would be diverse from a whole load of landfill indie or a whole load of allegedly political acts on small stages who are appartently the best thing you'd ever hear... Sorry diverse only applies if it scores high on the look-how-obscure-the-acts-I-like-are-ometer.

I think the line that got me when I heard it on the radio this morning was:

"It's a great festival and a great platform for me to be on"

Kind of sums it up - she doesn't want to play the festival because she respects it, but sees it as a 'platform' for her own promotion.

Oh please no. I can't stand Rihanna's nasal, whiny voice. In fact when I hear it I instinctively tense up and sprint away from it. It is to me what Kryptonite is to Superman.

What's worse is my other half loves her (in fact, she loves any factory manufactured RNB/Pop shite). It doesn't half cause some arguments in the car either.

Oh and FWIW, I don't reckon she's that fit. Very average (but obviously accompanied by a crack team of stylists at all times.)

If she does wangle her way into Glasto I'll be as far away as possible, with my head in a speaker of the nearest stage to me in order to avoid any trace.

Yep - I'm not getting the "fun" thing from everyone either. I liked the first one I think (pon de replay or something) - that was fun, but everything since has just been one long whinge!

I went and saw JayZ not expecting to enjoy it but I did, but then I wasn't that aware of his stuff, or hadn't placed it as his. I know what Rhianna does, and I find it very dull indeed.

No problem with her being there though - some people will like her, and I do like the idea of getting more variety in the line up.

Sugababes

Robbie Williams

Lady Gaga

East 17

Jay Z

...and lots of other cheesy pop acts over the years!

All played, all got pretty bloody big audiences, shitloads of people whinged incessantly for f**king months about all of them...these artists STILL PLAYED and noone got hurt!

If it means that a large tranche of the ever increasing numbers of kids (and their parents that attend with them) have something to go and see and that they are going to really enjoy then why the f**k not eh?

Lady Gaga pulled in a f**king huge audience and HOW long did the bitching go on for here?

Ditto for Jay Z! Both were pretty stunning performances that had the press and the audiences very surprised and thousands of folk had an awesome time.

Rihanna playing Glastonbury is an inspired idea. Didnt see anyone complaining about similar single female artists such as VV Brown, Gabriela Cilmi, Roisin Murphy. All have more or less one big sing along hit. Why...this girl is a superstar and ahem...a bit hiphop/R&B...does it warrant the bullshit reaction that is laid down by some folk!

A decent 6pm slot on Friday/Saturday. Lily was brilliant in that slot this year ...reckon Rihanna will be too!

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
