He is almost the anti-bono and he is a big act to go up against them.

No I'm not saying that not many people at Glasto like Greenday. I'm just saying a younger audience appreceate their music more. I feel as if you go through a stage with Greenday, when your 12 you are really into them and think they are the best band in the world. But then as you get older you realise there is better music out there and get into that instead. Yes I'm sure there are some harcore fans that go to glasto who are in there 20s or 30s but not very many. And If I was Greenday then I would be humbled to be asked to headline glasto, even if it was on John Peel. It doesn't really matter how big the band is at glasto, it's about the audience they appeal to.

I'm interested by the whole Green Day thing. I would have thought they were a bit big for the other stage, but then I'm comparing it to say the NME stage at TITP. Does the Other Stage generally get acts who sould be high up on other festivals main stages?

I am 100% sure it will be The Chemical Brothers. However, a good point was made earlier, anywhere else will be pretty damm good away from the Pyramid and Other, should be a good opportunity to get upfront for an act.

This year when Neil Young was on, I headed to Trash City and had a brilliant time watching some of the acts/cabaret before it got really mental.

Anything other than a big dance act followed by a massive dance act on the Other stage when U2 are on would be folly.

Something like Pendulum followed by Basement Jaxx would be required.

I know that almost everyone who wants to see U2 will have seen them already, but I still think they'll pull a big big crowd given the hype that will surround this gig.

In saying that, the Pyramid arena can handle it, just think it would be unfair to a decent sized rock act to put them on the same time as U2... and probably annoy a lot of people also.

On the Green Day thing, I think there may be a bigger crowd for it than might be thought. That whole genre may be a teenage thing in a way, but Green Day have been around for yonks, and been picking up teenage fans for quite a while, many of whom have grown older.

I'm early thirties, and haven't really followed them since Dookie, but I know I'd be down the front for the chance to have a mosh to Basket Case or Longview for sure. You don't sell out MK Bowl to teenagers alone surely?

sorry to dissapoint mate, but the iow is far from a major festival, the iow is a moneyspinner,borne to create revenue for the local community, i have never once come away from there feeling privelidged to have been, for me they have the very same 'lets make a shedload of money' attitude as the v and leeds.

I don't think the Eavis' would want to promote an upcoming act who " they like " such as Elbow or Dizzee up against U2 who will be a massive crowd-puller. I can see Kanye stepping up to the challenge on the Friday, as said earlier he is an anti-Bono of sorts and I believe a greatest hits set would go down well with the Glasto crowd, especially if he brought his orchestra back.

Either him or The Prodigy again, who will always attract a big crowd to watch them.
