He never comes on here and never wants to go to Glastonbury.

So I think I might stay in here!! :(

Anyway, go into the games thread, mardy. It's very, very mild for discussions. Just never use the words 'post' and 'modern' in the same sentence.

football is absolutely everywhere these days. A lot of people see glastonbury as 5 days to get away the outside world, 5 days of absolute freedom. I am shocked that people cant go without their precious sport for just a measly 5 days. Why cant you just let go?

I dont want to see football anymore than I want to hear the latest political developments or which celebrity is now sleeping with who. Why cant we just leave all that crap at the gates for 5 days?

You have 360 other days to worry about pointless crap like football.

What a sad, sad reflection of todays typical glastonbury goer.

Bump.

The groups are being drawn on Friday.

Do you think Bono will let us watch England if any England games clash?

Group E or F is what we need for England. Shout it at the telly during the draw.

Those groups ensure only 1 game over the weekend, and that will be on either Wednesday or Thursday. Perfect.

Good shout - G wouldn't be a disaster as it would mean 3rd group game Friday afternoon, hopefully we're already qualified and it's a formality.

Any of A,B,C or D could mean a headliner clash on Saturday or Sunday (or depending on where we finish an afternoon match on those days). H means a guaranteed headliner clash on the Friday.

Would be a complete nightmare but as an obsessive football fan I've come to the conclusion that you have to watch the music as scenario a) England lose, we all accept it and not having watched it, we don't get tremendously f**ked off for the evening or :P England win, we have a QF final to look forward to when we get home, who cares about R2.

There are 8 groups, and it is obviously dependent on which group England are drawn in as to what days the matches are on. We find this information out on 4th December 2009, so that gives them plenty of organising time.

The options are:

Group A Second round match on Saturday (15:00)/Sunday(19:30), depending on if England finish 1st or 2nd

Group B Second round match on Saturday (15:00)/Sunday (19:30), depending on if England finish 2nd or 1st

Group C Group match on Wednesday (15:00) AND second round match on Saturday (19:30)/Sunday (15:00), depending on if England finish 1st or 2nd

Group D Group match on Wednesday (19:30) AND second round match on Saturday (19:30)/Sunday (15:00), depending on if England finish 2nd or 1st

Group E Group match on Thursday (19:30)

Group F Group match on Thursday (15:00)

Group G Group match on Friday (15:00)

Group H Group match on Friday (19:30)

So with them knowing over 6 months before Glastonbury, they know what they are planning towards.

Groups E or F : won't affect the bands at all;

Groups G or H : will be a definite time to maybe leave empty on the Pyramid Stage;

Groups A or B : will have 2 options available, with it becoming definite on the Tuesday. I would personally try and book a band that are flexible enough to play either of the 2 slots. If England don't get through the group stage, a contingency plan could be put in place to have another band that have played on another stage to play a second time.

Groups C or D : group match won't affect the bands at all, but 2nd round match foolows the same rules as Groups A and B (although it will be Wednesday that it becomes definite which time slot England will be playing).

    • I dunno - I thought that initially but I'm, reluctantly, edging towards not happening as it stands. Will continue to dig where I can, though.   Re 2028 - I wouldn't be confident. If this is the second time they've tried and it's gone belly up, it could be a case of just write it off.
    • What do you think the lowest price the Weekend tickets for Leeds will hit?    Currently £210 before Twickets fees?   Maybe £140-150? Or less?
    • Guessing you only went to the S   I’m a Stones fan. I had a really difficult choice to make between them and PE. Choose the Stones, lasted about 15 minutes and then bailed (they were dreadful). Legged it to WH, thankfully as PE were brilliant
    • Its basically a case of who people like isn't it. I've no interest in Public Enemy, I like Example and C&S to a degree but I wasn't missing The Stones. Some younger folk too wouldn't really care about them. Some people I know went when they were 18 and I was 26.   Pheobe Bridgers, Sam Smith and Bicep likely make that chance much less lol. He's not taking an other stage set time though.
