Just a comment in general on this (rather than just about Muse in particular) .....

Isn't it normally the case that when a band does get this popular, it's because they've turned into a crap version of their former selves, and via that attracted a mainstream following?

There's two potentially wildly different things that could be going on there though. In some cases the band have gone mainstream to attract a bigger audience. But I think in the case of Muse (I also think this is the case with U2) it's simply that the music they have found themselves working on has been more mass-audience friendly. Although I find that weird because personally I think The Resistance is a lot LESS commercial sounding than Absolution.

It's the fact that you seem to take delight in coming on to my threads about other bands just to wind me up which amuses me the most. I have come to terms with the fact that you are now my second concions, the dark side of the Hole if you like. The beast waiting to get out of my body but not quite making it.

. People say that KOL have turned mainstream in their sound which is bollocks and it's just the fact that sex is on fire was as large as it was and that everybody from mums to chavs liked the song. Suddenly indie doesn't make people feel indepenent, what indie is supposedly stands for and it's liked by everybody.

Does anyone think it might be that Muse could play but not headline? ME has said he wants to get many past headliners back..

yep - that's the exact reason why the eFestivals story last week that Muse will be playing doesn't say they'll be headlining.

I know for sure they're playing (providing my info is good, which it very definitely should be).

I don't know for sure that they're headlining.

I'd be very happy if they play 2nd down. I don't like muse much so would be a bit of waste of a headliner for me, but if Glasto manages to get bands as big as Muse for 2nd down then it's the start of a very special line up.

I knows. That's never never going to happen.

License won't let them use the main stages on any other days apart from Fri, sat and sun. They can't have Muse being one of the only few bands to play somewhere like the Queens Head on Thursday. People would die.

I would bet my whole existence on that not happening

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
