friend just mailed me this:

Muse for Glastonbury?

October 26th, 2009 No comments »

During an interview with InDemand at the Q Awards, Muse’s Matt Bellamy said “I’d love to play Glastonbury, we’re going to have a little chat to the Eavis family today to see what they have to say”

surely this warrants a rumour listing on efests???

If thats the same interview that was on 6 music I think you'll find he said somthing more along the lines of...

"I'd love to play Glastonbury [if it was a couple of weeks earlier to avoid the bad weather], we're going to have a little chat to the Eavis family today to see what they have to say [about moving the date]"

I ad-libbed a bit cause I can't remember the actual Quote, but whatever website you got that from has clearly ommited that part.

thing is muse are never going to play setlists like that again theyve made 3 albums since then.

and they are constantly slagged off about the fact they dont play the whole back catalogue, name one current band that play more songs off the first 2 albums than the 3 more recent. it just doesnt happen?!

i agree they could mix it up a bit more but i think they have pretty solid setlist. :(

Not overhyped? :)

They were only the second band to play in the new wembley stadium after George Michael :( ..... ELO were selling out Wembley back in the 70's.

Now tell me again, not overhyping?

I remember a chat with a mate at work some time in September who wants to go to Glasto but hasn't yet. He was quizzing me again about this year and then said "who's playing nest year". My official answer was that the line-up won't be out until the tickets are sold, then I added "I reckon Muse and Radiohead are nailed on."

Let's hope that the second prediction also gains as much convincing evidence.

Just coming back to the title of this thread - saying that Muse are undoubtedly the best live band in the world purely subjective?!

They probably aren't the best live band in the world if you don't like Muse's music?

Also there are quite a few live acts out there who I am almost certain the author of this thread won't have seen....

It just seems like it is another thread trying to get people's back up provoke argument? Seems like the less of these threads the better but that's maybe just me....

xx  xx

i completley agree as the author of this thread that i havent seen every live band in the world although i have been to multiple festivals and been to over 30 gigs and havent seen a band better than Muse, if anyone that has seen muse live can say they've honestly seen a better performance and level of intensity than muse put on i'd be suprised.

it is obviously an opinion but i feel like it isn't just a fan boy comment.

as a headline act muse are about as good as they come!

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
