Weather thread 2010

I remember 2007 being the year that I really became obsessed with Glasto. I remember that weekend just being constantly glued to the telly and watching all the highlights online etc.

So glad I didn't go that year though. I reckon it would have broke me completely if I went and I wouldn't have wanted to return again. Really really excited now though. Every night when I'm in bed I think of it just as I'm about to drift off to sleep. I really do have high hopes that this ones gonna be an absolute scorcher. Now all I have to do is wait for the bloody tickets to arrive!

yep, at least in 05 it dumped it it one go

the problem with 07 was the constancy of it - it just wouldnt f**king stop - the afternoon of the saturday is wettest, dampest and saddest ive ever been at glasto.

The weather forecasts are crap yet again they said heavy rain in Liverpool today and other than about 2 minutes of drizzle its been a decent day. Im still holding out for a scorcher and nothing but a scorcher is acceptable at the moment to me!

The Monday morning was definitely the worst bit of Glastonbury 2007 for me.

I somehow carried on smiling and galumphing through the mud and rain from stage to stage all weekend, but on Monday morning I think I had food poisoning - no, definitely food poisoning - nothing to do with the 5 days of solid rum consumption that had enabled me to keep smiling through the weekend's deluge!

On Monday I remember my poor b/f trying to drive through the pouring rain up the M6 but having to pull off at every junction for me to be sick, and i still can't think of that journey without recalling the half hourly news bulletins relaying the awful story of the young man that drowned after getting his foot stuck in a drain as Hull flooded. Just awful - the sound of heavy rain always reminds me of him and actually - that there are worse things than a muddy Glastonbury.

Nowt wrong with JACKONE matey. We need to be grateful for such a detailed festival-specific forecast.

I'd hate him if he said 'it's going to be a scorcher!' and turned out wetter than Jessica Alba's knickers after half an hour with me.

I'm sure he wants the same as us. Well, the saner ones in this thread who HATE rain.

I'm not listening to anything until 2 weeks before the festival (so tomorrow night for me then!!)

177% rainfall? That's absolutely ridiculous! I'm not having that, no way!

I'll spend the 19th (sacrifice day) in the park in my pants on my own looking mental for a sunny Glasto.

Happy birthday Hastingsboy!!

I know it seems stupid to keep looking back at 2007 but that really puts me in an excited mood for this year's weather. My theory is that under no circumstances could the rain be any worse than 2007.. Nothing and I mean nothing could be as bad as it was then! The weather was relentless that year and there was no where to even sit down!! It is going to be a heatwave this year

Am i alone in thinking that 2007 wasn't THAT bad? Sure it rained a lot and the mud was horrific meaning there was absolutely no way of sitting down but I had a worse time of it in 97 which stood me in good stead for all the weather we've had since. At least we got to put the tent up in the dry in 07 which is something that we didn't get 10 years prior. As long as your tent doesn't leak, you don't fall over and get all your clothes wet and you've got the right footwear it's fine - walking around in the rain isn't a problem as long as you can get dry at some point.

That said. Sunshine please - I bleddy hate wellies!!!

07 was worse than 97 for exactly that reason.

97 was a bit like 2005 in the sense that there was a terrible storm on Thursday night but then it didn't rain again all weekend, although it did stay very muddy.

98 on the other hand was very like 2007 - it just never stopped! .....but there was less drainge then and it stayed very lake like!

I managed to stay clean at Glast 2007 throughout the whole weekend until moments before getting to the car to leave. My welly got stuck and I had lost the will to hold myself up and fell face first into bad mud. My friends thought it was hilarious that I had managed to keep my chips upright and above my head when I fell

Less talk of 2007 people. we dont want to tempt fate. if we have to talk past years, how about 2002/03 and 08.

no rain

no mud

no compromise

also im starting to think someone on here is topping off minor rock stars in sacrifice to the rain gods if that person could find it in themselves to do over any member of the n dubs ( pref the silly tw@ in the hats ) im sure the rain gods would be happy and grant us a scorcher..

I'll say it...

If there is any prospect of a repeat of that Sunday in 2007, I'll be gone by 9am that morning. Had a perfectly ok day, but it was just too wearying in the end for me to consider doing it again voluntarily, especially with two 12 year old girls in tow this time.

The ONLY saving grace was that I left at 8, and watched The Who showered and clean in a hotel bedroom.

No rain. No Comprimise.
