Latest Jackone update....

Continuing on from last night

18Hz -> High Pressure starting to build up from the South west, but also high pressure never too far away from the preceding week either.

And Now for today's updates.

00Hz -> A ridge of High Pressure again from the South west giving more settled conditions for the Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd.

06Hz -> Low Pressure pushing in from the North West from the weekend before the festival. This would give a wet build up to the festival and with the low pressure waiting in the wings to the west, a wet start to the festival as well.

12Hz -> High Pressure building up from the south west again from the weekend before the festival, and lying bang on top of the UK by the Tuesday (as per below).

Latest Met Office Update

UK Outlook for Monday 21 Jun 2010 to Monday 5 Jul 2010:

Indications show a mixture of drier and brighter interludes but still with a signal of more unsettled weather at times. Rainfall and sunshine amounts are therefore expected to be around average throughout the period. Temperatures should be near or slightly below normal, but perhaps slightly above in parts of southern and eastern England.

Better. I hope that high pressure stays above Pilton all festival week, and has as much urge to move as a Frenchman living next door to a brothel.

10 points to anyone who can tell me where I've stolen that joke from.

A few weeks ago all the long range forecasts were talking about a good early June, moving to unsettled/thundery in the second half of June and then back to good again at the end of June (too bloody late)

The way I'm seeing it is that the unsettled/thundery part has started a week early, so we now have a better chance of moving back to "good" by the 23rd.

OK then

R*in

but we do really want it to do it now. Last time the heat built up it was like 30c on the wednesday and thursday and we all remember what happened on the Friday when the weather broke. In fact whenever the weather is lovely for a couple of weeks before it always chooses the last week of June to r*in on our parade.

Also I quite like storms - I'm hoping for a bit of th*nder and l*ghtening this evening :) - but I don't want it on my annual west country holiday.

A lot of fine and summery weather is expected during the last part of the month. Temperatures should generally be above average across the whole of the country, and it may become very warm in the south for a time.

Taken from long range weather site....... Fingers crossed!

ITS HERE!

SOUTHWEST ENGLAND

Forecast updated 5th June, Late Summer and Early Autumn

After an often dry end to Spring, will Summer follow suit?

June

There has been a swing in expectations for June since the last update, with a wet month now looking likely particularly in the southern half of England and Wales, where rainfall levels are currently expected to be quite significantly above average in some locations. It should be noted that there is likely to be significant regional variations with regard to this. Despite the wet weather, temperatures are expected to be close to average for the time of year, which is another indicator of a very mixed month, with some very wet spells interspersed with drier, warmer and more settled spells.

Average temperatures predicted.

177% of rainfall predicted. Yikes!

Guest blackcockerel

My wife said to me the other day (it's her first time there) that in a funny way she hoped it did rain a bit so she could experience Glastonbury properly. I gave her the most evil, cold stare you can imagine.

    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
