There won't be any mud.

I should imagine we're all hoping for the kind of weather where they have to send vans around the site to spray water onto the ground, to suppress dust (yes this has happened in the past).

+ 1. Perhaps my favorite ever year. I want to see the traders ripping people off over the price of straw hats, not bloody wellies.

I get annoyed by people telling me I should enjoy myself whatever the weather. If I go walking in the Lake District for instance, I don't mind the rain. I've got the gear to cope with it, and it's part and parcel of an outdoor life. HOWEVER, if I go to a festival, I go because I want to sit in the sun, get pissed, wear my favourite t-shirts, look at pretty women in demin shorts and generally laze around on the nice, warm, dry grass. I don't go to festivals to prove that I can 'hack it' or to show what a positive personality I have (cos I haven't got one :P ).

NO BLOODY RAIN. NO BLOODY COMPROMISE.

1992.My last visit. They used the muck spreaders to spray water to keep the dust down.

I also remember not being able to buy suntan lotion anywhere so I resorted to smearing myself with calamine lotion.

I looked like something from Lord of the Rings.

In terms of "good luck" omens one of my mates is coming and has never done a muddy festival despite doing over 20 in his time. The only times he missed Reading fest and i've gone have been muddy (2000 and 2004)

and this is his first Glastonbury...its nailed on now.

scorcher :P

I've been trying to remember the weather at all the Glasto's I've been to to see if there is any pattern

'95 - Scorcher

'97 - Muddy

'98 - Muddy

99 - Sunny (to the best of my recollection)

2000 - as above

2002 - I forget - can anyone help refresh my memory

2003 - ummm I forget again

2004 - Shit man....wot the hell is wrong with my brain?

2005 - Year of the flash floods but I seem to recall it dried up throughout the weekend

2007 - Muddy

2009 - Few heavy showers/storms early on but nice and sunny overall

This has been said before all of us have the kit to deal with bad weather (if you don't get yourselves sorted) but life is so much easier and more pleasant with the sun. Lets hope that an Icelandic eruption does not ruin the weather, El Nino is kind and we don't use too much sun up before Glastonbury.

2004 - bloody gorgeous all day Thursday and Friday.

2005 - bloody gorgeous all day Thurday.

2007 - Thursday was the nicest day (I think?).

Your gripe is flawed. :P

Best just wish for no rain (or cloud) whatsoever. Just to be on the safe side.
