Weather thread 2010

Have so far taken back seat in here. Trying to curb my weather thread obsessiveness for a few more weeks. Now I see that WoW as resumed curating I know its nearing the time. I'm hoping that along with Ld wolf we can keep the freaky rain lovers and those who know no better at a safe distance.

Here we go again!

well, the long range forecast for June was updated yesterday... now obviously its still a guessing game - but this is what the boffins say for the South West.

Temp is -0.5 average and rain +112%

June

The tendancy for June is for higher than average air pressure, but with a fairly weak signal for this, rainfall levels are likely to be variable - with many regions close to the average overall. Temperatures are again expected to be close to normal for the time of year.

July and August

As we move further into the forecast confidence drops away, but the current expectation is that a good deal of dry weather can be expected, particularly in southern areas where below average rainfall is forecast across both July and August. As per June, temperatures are anticipated to be very close to normal levels.

Next update. 27th May.

I think history has proved that there is absolutly no point in checking the weather until the morning you leave for glastonbury. over the next few weeks the forcast on this thread will change from scorcher to washout and back again a dozen times. an absolute waste of time

Having said that i will be checking this thread every couple of hours from now until G day.

The above is the updated Netweather seasonal forecast.

Treat the above with caution folks, and don't worry too much at this stage, say I ...

I want a scorcher please - I've never been to a fully dry Glastonbury (04,05,07,08,09)

Surely this year it's my turn - can't afford a holiday this year either so it needs to be at least Southern European standard heat, I'll allow a lovely breeze every now and then but no clouds - there's trees for shade - or a brolly you can carry around for mobile shade so no need for clouds!

I hope I'm not the cursed one that keeps bringing the rain, that would be RUBBISH! If I am, I'm really sorry - please don't take my ticket away!!!

The best day I can ever remember for weather was the Thursday in 2005. It was awesome - lovely and hot, very few clouds, dry grass - we got annihilated whilst watching the Goonies.

I was in absolute heaven during that day.

Then I woke up on the Friday morning:

F**ksticks. :P

I cannot express in words how pissed off I was. 2004 was pretty mucky by the end, and I was so hopeful that 2005 was going to be nice and sunny throughout. That Thursday was SO sunny and dry, so much so that even a normal rain shower wouldn't have ruined the site. But the rain of Friday morning wasn't normal rain. It was some freak bastard son of a bitch rain, spawned from the ironic bollocks of satan.

This isn't normal, after just a few hours of rainfall:

My mood that morning was probably as annoyed as I've ever been. Thank god for John Butler Trio who cheered me up no end when they started playing. Ironically, the song they played that really gripped me was called 'Ocean'.

So then almighty weather thread. 6 weeks to go. I appreciate its all still pretty much random at this stage but aren't there usually some long range guesses *cough* forecasts, for me to obsessively check that are available about now?

(Apologies for being too lazy to read the whole thread)

there's no point in bothering with weather forecasts. if the weather is going to be shit, what difference does it make knowing before the festival?

those pictures LW posted are a bit f**ked up..

    • No idea how it'll work in a festival setting but really enjoying Prewn at the moment.
    • Lineup announced, with the dates having been pushed back to 12th and 13th September. Tickets on sale tomorrow 8:30am.   12th September Chaka Khan Jack Savoretti Lulu Emeli Sande Texas ABC The Script   13th September Simple Minds Deacon Blue Level 42 Appleton Blue James Blunt Cast   I think it’s a pretty weak lineup compared to previous years to be honest - and think it’s quite lazy they’ve gone down the Scottish route so much (not sure Simple Minds would be classed as a headliner elsewhere in the UK).

    • I've been saying that it's been due for years. I don't recall anything but good luck, mainly, since 2016.   If we could get the bad year out of the way during the fallow year, and return to glorious sunshine next year, that would be most welcome.
