Ideally, I'd lose a lot of the Americana stuff and the joyless gothic, literate types - namely,I'd ban:

steve earle

nick cave

richmond fontaine

wilco

will oldham

bill callahan etc etc

my own little fantasy festival would include:

jenny lewis

the be good tanyas

annuals

white denim

hem

centro-matic

the tyde

the weepies

matt pond pa

m ward

willow willow

jens lekman

More pop and positivity, less doomy dustbowl / plaid shirt & beard (Will Johnson-excepted!)

Without wishing to be a grouch or anything, but please can something be done about chairs and picnic blankets, and possibly even dare I say it prams? There was plenty of space for the Fleet Foxes but the empire builders with their little terrotories have been bothering folk for years. I know it's nice for people to be comfortable and all, but there seems a lack of awareness of the comfort and enjoyment of others - I'm sure it's not just me! (Or I hope not)

On the musical front, I think the main thing for me is recognising that while it's nice to give bands longer slots than might be normal at festivals, some bands don't actually have the material to cover thirty forty minutes, at that particular time in their career.

Rant overish - a friendly, well organised festival - maybe it's the virus I can't shake off at the moment, but it didn't seem as "fun" as the last couple of years, but hopefully everyone had a grand old time, and like the internet hypocrit I might be, see you next year!

I don't mind picnic blankets; there is a largish group of us and we take one ourselves, and we don't mind who else stands on it and as soon as the field starts to get crowded we pick it up. It's more a marker for the kids to aim for on the odd occasion they want to converse with their parents than anything else.

I stood on someone twice on Sunday who was lying flat out on the floor and was impossible to see, and then his or her mate gave me a filthy look. I pointed out as politely as I could that if a person was going to lie down in the pitch dark in very crowded field the person was likely to be stepped on. I don't mind people taking up the space, I do mind them refusing to give an inch to allow others to pass by.

As for next year, I would be happy with the exact same line up, which would give me a chance to see all the stuff that I had intended to see, but missed!

Sipperana got in before me but Half Man Half Biscuit would be fantastic. They still do a few gigs a year so would be available AND I would diet just to fit into my 20 odd year old Dukla Prague away shirt

Only one way forward. Bring back British Sea Power !!

If you could squeeze in The Duke & The King again that would be great but also The Felice Brothers would rock the place, Ween would be great, Breathe owl Breathe are perfect, Miles benjamin Anthony Robinson would be mind blowing, Bonnie prince billy and Bill Callhan are ideal for this festival as are The Mendoza line, The Sumner Brothers and Great Lake Swimmers. I know there are 1000's of bands you can choose but any of the above would be great.

Thanks for another brilliant festival, good bands, good food, brilliant weather, couldn't ask for better.

We need to get the HMHB campaign going :(

But overall, altho' I've already made a few suggestions, I agree with whoever it was who said to trust Simon and Sofia....... for me a lot of the fun this year has been checking out new bands as they appear on the booking list :(

Firstly, I trust Simon and Sofia, based on my experience over the past two years (especially this year; didn't know many of the bands before I turned up). If I was definitely going to be in the UK next year, I'd already have my ticket for 2010 :(

That said, would love to see any of the below (many of which are repeats from above):

First up, some New Zealand bands:

Jakob (kinda post-rocky, they would be great in the Local)

Dimmer (alt-rock)

Chris Knox (low-fi with fuzz and loops and stuff)

Everyone else:

Jim White

Handsome Family

Howe Gelb/Giant Sand

Calexico

Jay Farrer

Low Anthem

Leisure Society

Noah and the Whale

Mumford & Sons

Beirut

Decemberists

Sonic Boom

Lambchop (Kurt Wagner again would do)

Mountain Goats

The National

The New Pornographers (if not, maybe AC Newman)

Andrew Bird

Eels

Antony and the Johnsons

Super Furry Animals

Black Lips

The Shins

Bon Iver

Mercury Rev

Less Likely?

Wilco (or Jeff solo? Or Loose Fur?)

Magnetic Fields

Glasvegas

Nick Cave

The Flaming Lips

Spiritualized

Spacemen 3 reunion (hmmm....)

Modest Mouse

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
