October Ticket Sale Date

Quick question, do we have any idea if the deposit scheme will be going ahead this year. If so will the ticket sale date be the first sunday in October.

Me and the other half will be out of the country up until the 5th October on Holiday. Im worried we will miss out.

I suspect you could be lucky and it will be on the 4th which is the Sunday

If not, is it possible to ask friends or family to buy for you?

I'm desperately hoping it will be the 4th, otherwise I'll be in China (or possibly be on a plane flying there, which would be probably the most annoying place of all to be, with virtually zero chance of internet access!).

Not that I'm not pleased to be going to China, of course. But I should've thought a bit further ahead before booking it.

After the success of this year I'd have thought it'll sell-out quicker this time. But presume we're still talking weeks. Does efestivals have a view on the timescale for sell-out?

It's such a nightmare! One year they take months to sell out, the next they may go in 2 hours!. Unlikely I know but I'll be taking no chances and have fingers poised when the clock ticks, forums updates at the ready! *not missed since 86' and not planning to anytime soon*...

I've an awful feeling this year that we will be returning to the selling out in two hours senario, even with the deposit scheme.

2007 was a nightmare getting tickets on the reputation of previous years, but on the back of the 2007 weather and JayZ appearing in 2008, this slowed the 2008 sales down to an almost stop. Then with 2008 being OK... not being talked about as a 'vintage year' and even G losing its mojo, this again slowed 2009 sales down.

Now, with 2009 being hailed as the best Glasters EVER and with the 40th Anniversary coming up (which I think will be no different to any other year as every G plays music from past to present)... the hype will such that deposit day will be like ticket day and we'll all be there with banks of computers and 10 phones strapped to our heads just trying to get through! happy days. x

Personally I think for the dedicated Glasto attendee , then we should have no trouble getting tickets if they start to sell them in the Autumn.

This year was a good example , there was nothing to stop it selling out in months , but hey ho tickets

were on sale right until May I think.

Perhaps we should accept that amongst our group Glasto is no 1 priority , but to the rest it is not.

If anything the World Cup next year might put a few thousand males off !

I still fail to see how one act playing for one night for approx 2 hours can be blamed for the slow

selling of Glasto tickets. Personally I ain't a Jay Z fan (Massive Attack all the way for me thanks )

but it was not his fault.

I hate the Kaiser Chiefs with a passion , but I am still going to Leeds next week , I did not sell my

ticket cos they were playing.

I don't think all the tickets available to everyone in early Oct will actually sell out that day. Lots of people aren't thinking about a Festival at that time of year & LOADS of people are feeling the effects of the recession.

Worryingly I’ve had a number of friends recently mention they are going to Glasto next year who I wouldn’t have thought it would appeal to. They’ve found out it’s the 40th anniversary and are expecting great things of the line up.

As usual I suspect many people who want to go will not bother and others who hadn’t expected to be there will be dragged along by friends.

The only way of monitoring interest would be to take a note of the current registration number now and again just before ticket sales. This would only give an indication new interest or lost registration numbers. It was a lot easier to track in the old days when you had to register each year.

I predict that on ticket day the servers will be slow, it will take some time to get the order screen up but with some perseverance we should all be successful. – Providing the tickets go in sale in October. April on the other hand would be a nightmare.
