Flag Love

The 1 <3 sausages flag from shangri la was at blur on sunday.

I also really liked the one that looked like the peace flag with the rainbow, but just said PACE

But I hate flags at stages with a passion.

I think the festival should not ban them (that would be silly) but just discourage people from taking them to stages.

I don't mind the odd one or two but there were too many this year. anyway that is digressing the ones i liked were

I heart sausages, which was quite near me at madness (i think)

The Phillip Schofield one

and the Peckham/Kilburn One - I tried to find them after I saw them ahead of me (again I think at Madness) but they must have collapsed it as I couldn't find them and wanted to meet others from Kilburn

The inflatable donkey, having a little dance to Rolf Harris and later seen at Quo and Madness. That donkey had taste.

The surfer dude also seemed to have similar taste.

The pigeon on a stick that managed to get between the camera an N.E.R.D, wrong, but amusing.

Although I take peoples point about the flags. At 5 ft 2 I never have and never will see the stage, so it's quite nice to have something to look at other than the sweaty back of the bloke in front. No offence to blokes with sweaty backs it's not your fault I'm a short-arse :D

The GodFather one at the back of Rolf...the picture is of Sir Micheal of Eavis!

Saw the same two hot blondes several times throughout the weekend carrying a small wooden sign with 'YEASTY CLUNGE' on it. Completey outdone by the 20 ft flag at the front of the Prodigy crowd with CLUNGE on it. Even picked it out on the tv highlights. Awesome.

A bloke next to me before Madness was waving his flag manically. It was then I came up the idea of a flag next year. I actually stopped him to tell him, and he seemed offended.

The plan is a massive pole with a net on the end, and a flag of Michael Jackson saying the phrase "Fishing for kids", and you dip it into the crowd now and again.

It was funny in my head, and a crowd mover :)

I liked the small appreciation for Madness saying "Madness for a f**king Brit". To the point and acknowledged by Suggs on stage. It was also a nice size banner and didn't ruin anyones view. I still think flags should be kept away from the stages. Selfish TOSSERS looking to see themselves on TV for nano-second

Did any Flight of the Conchords Fans spot the Jemaine flag? It was Orange, and said "Glastonbury 2009 *picture of Jemaine* It's Business Time"

Amazing!

Also, I spotted a flag with Purple Aki on it (A Merseyside Urban Myth?)...which was weird but funny.

And the Godfather flag with Michael Eavis was amazing!

The people camped next to us had a big flag with a stork carrying a baby which said "It's a girl!". Bit random.

However, on Friday morning when we got a text from our mate who couldn't come this year, telling us that his wife had just given birth to a baby girl, we were able to text him back a photo of us all giving him a big thumbs up under a totally relevant flag. Not sure how long we'll let him believe we planned it (and carried an "It's a boy!" version to cover the other possibility).

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
