I knew I'd make a mistake somewhere and that some pedant would pull me up on it, but I can't help feeling that the point has been missed. I'm not expecting people to turn into grammar/spelling nazis I'm just asking for a basic level of competence in the English language so we can all read each other's posts easily enough.

Oh, and the apostrophe in "it's" is posessive. The users belong to the forum.

My degree is in linguistics and I despise people who deride people who may have a less formal understanding of language. If you understand the point being made, that is all that matters - especially on an internet forum. Spelling is irrelevant if meaning is conveyed.

Actually I don't think you do need a comma after the first use of 'thread'. You can put a comma there, or leave it out, without the meaning of the sentence changing.

I'm not happy about leaving the apostrophe out of the word don't. However that is the great thing about the English language. It's constantly evolving.

No I see what you are saying, but it is an open area, and has the capacity been tested. There has to be access and exit points blah blah blah. I can do the maths, but we are not looking at an arena here. If we were the HSE would have to put limits on the numbers in the field, as well as the possiblity of crowd control.

Sorry I am been a c**t (not at you), but I have been doind "Crowd and Safety Management", and numbers in festival arenas seems to be a grey area.

I apologise

MSA finds all forums are equal and that all is right with the world.

Except in one of the other forums (should that be forii?) I frequent it is forbidden to have seperate 'attendees only' forums for meet specific talk. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth such a thing caused when it first happened.

Now we just do it on facebook instead

Many flounced.
