Sorry but it is obvious that they have to provide a reg number after they win the tickets right ?

incorrect. They provide their reg numb at time of entry.

Surely if the current (uncontactable) winner of this years tickets has already provided you with reg numbers then whats the problem in contacting them. Reg number has name, photo and address.

Glastonbury need the reg numb for the companion, because there's two tickets as the prize.

It states clearly on the competition page that it's entrants responsibility to ensure that the email addy used with their registration is good, because they might need to be contacted about their prize.

If they've already registered, can't you just send the tickets to their registered address?

I know the answer to this must be 'no' as it seems too obvious. Just curious why it can't be done.

a reg number is needed for the second ticket, and is the reason why we've been trying to contact the winner.

I am shocked and stunned. Have you attempted to use that reg number on seetickets to see if it has been used or not? It would be great if the winner really has not got a ticket.

Why not contact SEE to get that persons real email so you can contact them, or ask see to send them an email of the great news.

The competition has been run in the way that it's been run, on those terms. If the winner doesn't do what they need to do to collect their prize, it's their loss and no one elses.

Or just send them their ticket so that all they have lost out on is the ticket for a friend?

Seems a bit harsh that they should lose both just because they have not responded with details for the second ticket.

eFestivals has been running a competition for someone to win a pair of Glastonbury tickets.

The winner has been drawn. The winner has had emails sent to him/her.

But this user seems to have used what is essentially a false email address for their registration, meaning that they are not responding to the emails being sent to them, meaning that it's looking like they're going to miss out on their prize.

What's the point of registering for a competition and giving false details? Does it get any dafter? :D

Does the email actually hard bounce with an NDR? Or is it soft bouncing with a reason error code? If its not bouncing at all, so seemingly delivered then it may be getting dropped by the ISP or users mailbox as spam. In which case, there are a number of things you can do to reduce that likelihood in relation to the email format that might yield better delivery success.

the email isn't bouncing.

We can only send emails - successful receipt to a user's inbox is the responsibility of the account holder and/or their ISP.

If people choose to use (say) hotmail along with all the crap service that comes by default with hotmail (I can give a VERY long list!) that's their look out and not mine.

So what happens if you enter the comp with your reg number and you win tickets after you've bought them? Or do you only draw from the numbers that haven't purchased their tickets?

if that happened, Glastonbury wouldn't authorise the comp tickets - they're all done thru the same system, with one reg number for just one ticket.

I wouldn't bother with all this next year Neil

yeah, it seems that running a straightforwards competition via a system that has worked perfectly ever since Glastonbury introduced registrations and gives people without a ticket the chance to go is all too much for some people, and that I should be running a comp now for next year with tickets I don't have and don't know I'll get, or whatever. :D
