Idlewild

As someone who's been to see Idlewild 11 or 12 times now, I'd say that FR headline is maybe even a little optimistic - their support seems to have fallen off a cliff in recent years despite putting out some of their best work.

Their new album can be pre-ordered at www.idlewildmusic.com and if it's done in the next few days, you get 15 downloads from their King Tuts album gigs, a special edition of the album with bonus tracks and your name in the credits and all sorts, including exclusive blogs and videos from the band.

Highly recommended.

Kris, John and Roddy are heading out on another short UK tour in June after the success (and near sell out!) of the last one. They will also make several festival appearances over the summer.

More to be announced soon.

Idlewild will also be playing over the summer, and will do a full UK tour in Oct/Nov. see www.idlewild.co.uk for details.

They never recovered from trying to change their fan base [it seemed] with the 3rd album, they changed the way they were live and everything, i remeber seeing them do a small tour in Feb of 2002 and it was wild then saw them on their bigger tour in support of the 3rd album [im not counting Captain here by the way] and they just changed so much, Roddy used to throw himself all over the place and they were a crazy, exciting loud band, then they went to him standing still singing commercial radio friendly songs, they lost the bulk of the fanbase, i know I didn't see them until years later after that, but I have again now and I know what to expect, they're a good solid band

Id always watch them given the chance

Awesome, yes please!!

Idlewild around 98/99 time were insane, remember walking out of the Astoria with a massive footprint on my face. Roddy used to completely lose it

I really like all of their stuff, still think 100BW is my fave, bring on the Camden gig in May :P

I love Idlewild - DJ at a little indie night and always try to drop roseability or when I argue I See shapes.

I saw them a few years ago and whilst they had lost a bit of the edge they used to have the songs were head and shoulders above most stuff around at the moment.

I'd love to see them again this year in the Radio one/nme stage but not clashing with headliners.

One of my favourite bands ever. They are one of those bogey live acts for me though in that your always broke when they tour, or they play venues in locations too far away. The latest example is when they toured last year, they played a date in Manchester 3 days after the lease ran out on my halls. This year, they have announced the dates in London where they are playing entire albums...these take place (no kidding) 5 - 3 days before I go back down south.

I have waited with baited breath ever since the 04 announcement for Idlewild to be announced for Reading one year. So this will be the sixth year. In that time they have released 2 more albums (3 if you count the one coming this summer), and played pretty much ever other festival bar Download. Yet they are still never ever announced.

As you can tell, I'd love it but I'm not counting on it!

So infact when they are not announced for Reading, it's your fault, as you're a jinx?

Well thanks a lot, do us all a favour and don't come?

Lol, but yeah I'm similar to you, I went on holiday to America the day the London shows came on sale,a and now they're all sold out. That's not really similar, but crumby all the same!
