Ah just posted in the other thread about it being TBC but I see Neil has actually posted in this thread

great news I think, been listening to FNM the last couple of days, they're a big booking, Download should have no problem selling out this year I think

Depends what sort of audience Download is trying to attract, the confirmation of Faith No More and also Def Leppard, ZZ Top and Whitesnake won't make any of the Kerrang generation buy tickets as they probably havn't herd of any of those bands.

You could say we already have this list for the Kerrang generation

Slipknot

Korn

Marilyn Manson

Billy Talent

Buckcherry

Devildriver

Dragonforce

Dream Theater

Killswitch Engage

Limp Bizkit

Pendulum

The Blackout

The Prodigy

Trivium

Papa Roach

But when you think that two of the day's will already have 'old school' headliners, Sunday will have Def Leppard, Whitesnake and ZZ top + who ever else's confirmed. We also have Motley Crue and Anvil of the 'old school' bands.

I would of thought a band like Rammstein, Rage Against The Machine or Green day would of had more pulling power with the kerrang generation than Faith No More? :P

Man, you make it sound like you want Fall Out Boy to headline, which I know isn't true! Thing is that neither Rammestein, Rage or Green Day wanted to do Download, for different reasons. I'm sure if any of them expressed interest the organisers would have jumped at the chance. So I'm glad Faith No More got instead of someone balls.

Screw Kerrang Scene

Ditto :P

fall out boy wont headline after what happened to MCR, but looks like its guna be Faith No More which is poor they could have done alot better and for Korn to sub headline is wrong as well they havnt done anything in ages

You know I still read kerrang but I have to say Download does better by not catering just for those kiddy readers, which is what i've argued for ages. Your average download goer has always been 18+ and this years line up is gonan please alot of people.

You can't market a festival like download to under 18 Parmore fans because they have no dispoable income! Simple economics. Bands like Def leppard and Faith No More might make some 15 year old kid go 'who?' but it doens't matter because they don't have the 300 odd quid that download is after anyways (ticket, download bus, beer, food...it all adds up)

To Neil - good work on getting the FNM news...but is Download the only Euro Festival u know of they're confirmed for or do you know of any other euro festivals they're expected to be confirmed for ie Nova Rock, Rock Am Ring?

Faith no more arn't playing rock am ring, at southside instead which has made it a lot easier to give download a go (i do love the crazy germans tho lol). Let's just hope they don't f**k it up and put on some horrific clashes, although will be inevitable if they're putting zz top on in the tent, not much chance of them being on at the same time as def leppard.

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
