Just got the complete deadwood collection. first impressions are that it's bloody superb. lovejoy is electric in it!

Past month I watched from the penultimate episode of the first season of "prison break", up to the last episode (season 4 episode 16). It's good fun, if a rather silly at times, but I appreciate how they changed things around each season, and william fichtner's pretty cool throughout.

Also been watching and keeping up to date with "lost" season 5 (superb), "battlestar galactica" season 4 (superb), "24" season 7 (ok), and got 4 episodes of "the corner" ready to watch sometime (david simon, the wire)

+ 1 for being human, the werewolf is my favourite, I just like what seems to be his slightly 'put on' well spoken voice.

There's got to be a second series. Last night's was brilliant!

Yep second series was commissioned last week - yay! I LOVE Being Human. Watched the pilot when it came out and waited a year for the first series. So chuffed it's coming back. George, Mitchell and Annie are such fantastic characters. It's the best thing on telly at the mo in my opinion. Fave line of the series? "Who wants a piece of my chair?"

Also watching first series of Arrested Development on DVD at the mo and am skyplus-ing Battlestar Galactica on the boyfriends Skybox so am watching that in chunks every few weeks. This series (what I've watched so far) is brilliant.

I'm really enjoying Being Human, proper Sunday evening telly to sit & chill in front of.

Saw Pushing Daisies for the first time the other day, didn't have a clue what on earth was going on but it looked brilliant. Reminded me a lot of Glastonbury

awww i luv being human and pushing daisies, luv the narrator so good!

Does anyone else watch Extreme Fishing with Robson Green? I was never a fan of his tv shows and even less taken by his musical efforts but this show is just brilliant. I always thought he'd be a bit of a twat but he actually seems a genuine good guy and very passionate about his fishing.

I want to know what happened to Scrap Heap challange?!?!?! Awsome show.

Probably been mentioned a million times but totally addicted to heroes and Shameless.

Heroes is just going from strength to strength IMO and i'm loving the whole Nathan and Peter showdown.

Frank is a legend, but think this series has got a little far fetched. Still being a rebel without a cause and staying up late to watch it though

Honestly?!

I think they've totally ruined it. It's a dreadful show that ran out of ideas after series 1, which was really promising.

Really!?!?

I LOVED the first season but have to disagree, the writers have gone to great lengths to delve into the characters lives and personalities. The only story line I was disappointed with was the whole Mohinder turning into Jeff Goldblum from the fly. Far fetched even for Heroes standards! :O

Yeah, the fly 'spoof' was the worst thing about it all.

I dunno - it just seems as if they haven't been bothered to do any writing and have just regurgitated the first series, but making it more confusing, and more padded. I think they've 'done a Lost' with stretching out the main plot for FAR too long, so far that I have totally lost interest. I just found series 3 a confusing mess. Such a shame.

The wife still loves it though. (Not that I trust her opinion on decent TV - she records sodding Lois And Clark to watch during the day when she's with the little 'un!)

I'm with you on the Lost thing. After the first season i totally lost interest and just got confused! now that was a shame as it had the potential to be a fantastic show. is it actually still running and are people still watching it?

Back to the point... Scrapheap Challange. when is it back on????

The only forgiveable reason is that Robert Llewellyn is too busy doing the new Red Dwarf specials!!

yes, great cast.

i'm a fan of paddy considine. i'm happy to watch anything with starring him

I caught episode 2 last night. Absolutely fantastic. It is very dark and the violence is protrayed cold and bluntly, without being unnecessarily graphic.

I was shocked when he got shot at the end

edit> One of my favourite Paddy Considine films is "Dead Mans Shoes"..

Anybody else planning on watching Red Riding on C4.

I don't really watch TV much but I fancy this

I watched the first one.

It was horrific in places I thought but hugely well acted. I'm looking forward to this next one which was on last night on 4 on Demand.

same here that is some of the darkest TV i have ever seen Andrew Garfield was superb as always i really hope he goes on to big things as he is such a talented actor, he was amazing in Boy A a few years ago and fully deserved the BAFTA he got for it.

missed last nigths episode though will watch it round a friends next week as she sky+'d it

That's who he is! It was annoying me for most of the first one.

It is a bit a who's who of gritty northern actors I thought. But it was dark as you say. Kinda like Life on Mars without the thrills.

It also rammed home how sodding depressing up north was in the 70s.

    • https://x.com/amirtibon/status/2083054470871535853   Some thoughts on the Gaza agreement announced overnight, which despite my reservations and concerns, I hope will be implemented. 1. Donald Trump is trying to collect "wins" and "achievements" ahead of the midterm elections. His party is entering that election at a disadvantage, but because Democrats may choose weak and unpopular candidates in specific states, much like Republicans did in 2022, there's a reason for Trump to at least try achieving a surprising result like the one Biden secured four years ago.   2. The will to provide Trump such a "win" was an important motivation for all sides involved in this agreement: Hamas, Netanyahu, Qatar, Egypt, UAE and Turkey. All of them hope, each for their own reasons, that the transactional president will remember their role in the agreement and the positive media coverage it has generated and will continue to generate. You can like it or not, but that's the nature of diplomacy, especially in the Middle East, under Trump.   3. Netanyahu and his band of liars in the Israeli media (and the last few suckers in the American media still buying his spin) are already trying to oversell the agreement and present it in terms that contradict the Board of Peace statements and briefings. Of course, the October 7 Prime Minister can't just say the truth on this one, which goes something like: "I'm trying to stay on good terms with Trump ahead of an election here in Israel that will determine my personal fate and whether or not I go to jail in 2027."   4. For Hamas, the agreement is a way to buy time and survive, which is basically the organization's overarching goal since October 7. They lost most of their leadership and thousands of their fighters; they will also, I believe, give up some of their weapons to the new Gaza-based Palestinian government, which is a good thing. But at the bottom of all their decisions is a simple calculation: being able to say, "we committed the most deadly and humiliating attack against Israel since the start of the conflict, and survived as a movement and an organization to tell about it."   5. Hamas was able to say that yesterday, before the agreement was signed, and it can also say that today, after the conclusion of the negotiations. So in that regard, the agreement is preferable to the murky post-war reality that preceded it, in which Hamas was recruiting again thousands of young fighters, holding on to all its weapons, and controlling 99% of Gaza's population, making money off people buying fuel and cigarettes. Changing even a part of that terrible reality, by collecting some of the weapons and allowing progress on reconstruction under a non-Hamas government, is better. It means coming to terms with the fact that Israel under this government failed to dismantle Hamas and allowed its survival even before this agreement was signed.   6. Do I think the agreement will be fully implemented over the next 300 days, as I understand the timeline? I'm highly skeptical. But I'm also asking: what are the alternatives? Netanyahu, in his quest for political survival at all costs, ignored David Ben-Gurion's national security strategy of seeking short and decisive wars, which was based on Israel's unique internal and external challenges that make it dangerous for this country to have long wars of attrition. The result is an Israel that is hated, isolated and denounced around the world like never before, and is totally reliant on the support of one man (TRUMP) to avoid crushing international sanctions. Going to war in Gaza once again based on the same promise of "finishing Hamas," which this government failed to achieve after three long years, would have been suicidal unless Trump promised his full backing. And Trump, for good reasons, can't give such a commitment after his bitter experience with Netanyahu in Iran and Lebanon.   7. For me and my family, these are all very personal, not only political, questions. My six-year-old daughter will start school on the Gaza border in exactly one month, as we rebuild our life in the same home where Hamas tried to murder us on October 7. We've learned over the years to be highly skeptical of premature victory announcements and diplomatic celebrations. When these things collapse under the cynical realities of the conflict, most of those announcing them are not around to face the consequences. Still, I don't see a better alternative to the 20-Point Plan that Trump presented last year, at least not with Israel's current position of isolation and exhaustion under this government. So I have some hope that the agreement will succeed, even partially, and deliver a period of quiet. For us on the border, that would be significant after three years of war and trauma. And maybe in the long run, with different Israeli and Palestinian leadership, this will become a first step in a broader positive change for the region.
