if you're not on an airbed, make sure you have a blanket or something between your sleeping bag and your bed mat. also another blanket round you in the sleeping bag. joe bananas blankets saved my freezing arse in 07.

I have one of those thick space blankets (aluminium/ polyester), fills the entire tent base

not those little thin foil things that sound like a crisp packet

this is the heavy duty paramedic stuff

and, a sleeping bag that ..... so it claims ..... can be used to minus three million celcius!

so, it looks like this, from the ground up:

base of tent

orange survival bag

heavy duty space blanket

thermo rest

me in a sleeping bag

do you think I'm getting this wrong and should have more over me than under me

I was really really freezing all night, I could not undress to sleep in something else

even in the mornings when I woke up it was a struggle to get out of my sleeping bag

well that just depends on what you look like sorry, try a better sleeping bag is probably your best bet, a good down filled bag will do the trick

it wasnt even cold at night last year tho there were a few nights i didnt even bother with my bag, try an air bed and a couple of blankets on top of your sleeping bag and wear a hat, that should help

Try & eat plenty. (I remember nagging you about that last year!) I know it's pretty obvious I love my food, but you need the heat from calories. Have a warm drink before you go to bed, or just stay up around a fire with us.
