Where are you going to be working and how are you getting there? Bus passes work out cheaper than the tube but it usually takes a lot longer. For me it's worth buying a monthly oyster travel card as I save a bit of money on commuting and then whenever I go out at weekends or in the evening on public transport it's effectively free! Zone 1 and 2 travel card is about £100 a month.

I spend on average about £100 a week on food and going out and Stuff e.g. birthday cards for people, toiletries, newspapers and books, gig tickets etc. To be fair I'd say most of it goes on non essentials like beer, eating out and gigs though so it'd be easy to cut down. It's hard to judge because some weeks I'll spend £60 on a massive shop of stuff for the cupboard and freezer and other weeks it'll just be salad, bread, milk etc. I cook everything fresh too but I'm quite good at freezing extras and using ingredients in a load of different meals in a week. I also save a f**king ton of money by taking my lunch to work unlike the majority of my work mates who constantly eat McDonalds and KFC. Honestly the amount of chicken everyone in London seems to consume daily (and then hurl on to the floor) I've never known anything like it.

Edit: also get a mini A-Z atlas thing and carry it with you all the time for a bit.

Anyway i am all packed and ready to move tomorrow. yay!

The ex is being a bit weird, cuddling up and stuff, in 5 days he has gone from acting like a 7 year old to being far too nice. This worries me, i think he might expect that even though i'm leaving we might still see each other for doinks and stuff, well thats not going to happen. I'm happy to be friends, but i'm not going to be having sexual relations lol.

Thanks for this.

I work nr Liverpool St, so its a direct overground train from stokey to there 17 mins yay! I've been working in London for 4 years so i know my way around fairly well, although not Hackney way really.

It actually works out cheaper for me to get a monthly stokey to liverpool street ticket as that is £55 a month and then use my oyster pay as you go when i need to use the buses/tubes etc, I prefer buses when possible. My travel is £250 cheaper a month than it is now going from Harpenden to Farringdon.

£100 a week is doable so thats good.

I swear the piles of vomit have got worse over the last year. Is everyone drowning their financial sorrows?

I also don't really get the appeal of chicken, I don't like to eat too much red meat, though i love it and i prefer vegetarian food to chicken, i do eat chicken in curries, and things with lots of flavours but fried chicken doesnt really do it for me.

Anyway i am all packed and ready to move tomorrow. yay!

In singles news, the frisky housemate and I are sort of...it's like we're seeing each other, except without the kissing and stuff. I have no problem with this. And we got a bit frisky on the sofa the other night when he got home a little drunk. Win.

I don't fully understand it either. It's like...sort of like friends with benefits, except we're not just friends, we're definitely a lot more than that. It's somewhere between friends with benefits and an actual relationship. We treat each other like we're going out on a day-to-day basis, but kissing and such only happens when he's had a few drinks. Or when we've fallen asleep together in the lounge and we'll wake up at like 4am and he'll pull me in for a cuddle and a few kisses and then go back to sleep.

And I can't even talk to him about it because I know he'll say that he's not ready for a relationship and then he'll totally back off for a few weeks. Which would be fine, but I'm really very fond of him. And we'd just fall back into what we're doing now the minute he sees another guy hit on me.

I just don't know

Ah well. Could be worse, but it can't carry on like that forever I guess. I'm no expert [:O], but I suggest treating him just as a normal friend for a while, not kissing him etc, then hopefully he will realise how much he likes you and will forget about his ex and everyone will live happily ever after.

Well that's often my plan, but I seem to have a problem saying no to him. He seems to get a bit more eager when I hint at being attracted to other boys, or hinting that there's anything about him that I don't like. I'm spending the night up in my room tonight, rather than in the lounge with him, just to see how he likes it when I'm not around. I'm pretty certain that he'll come up after a while and ask me to go sit with him, because that's what he always does.

the usual , met a few girls last week, meant to go out with one on thursday but she had to work..so asked girl num 2 out - not seeing either of them so figured it's ok

asked another girl (girl from before) out for a meal next week-had to be next week bit short of cash atm, if she'd said this week itd be a KFC bargain bucket! ha

saw a super fit blonde in Manhattans last night, really tall, skinny blonde girl, had planned on speaking to her, but she left before I could :(

girl 2 stayed over mine, but forgot her phone..so obviously I had to read her messages..and yea she's seeing like 4/5 guys..some filthy messages on her phone!

    • What is too old for Leeds Fest now ?  I'm going to the Fontaines Saturday in a few weeks at 54 !!!  I may be the oldest there 🙂    Wythenshawe may be an option for WA.
    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
    • I would be all over Wolf Alice but may have outgrown this venue.    Also have to consider the schedule they have been on this year so may be on a break.  This last 10 days alone they did Tramlines, New York, Chicago and Kendal Calling.  Although make hay while the sun shines may come into play.
